Agreed catswhiskas.

As I say, I think the companies that build for scale can sometimes be really overlooked/underestimated by the market. Then scale really kicks in and they take off.

I obviously hope this is the case here.

Hi deltrotter I was thinking exactly the same the seller could indeed be clearing which means onwards and upwards I thought the trading statement was exactly what was expected no surprises at all with super prospects for 2017 backed by a busy order book .

Yes, RBC were too bullish. But, they are the company's joint brokers and the lengthy report - which it is hard to get published on a small cap stock - was only published on 1 December. It is therefore careless, to say the least, for the company not to have guided RBC a bit lower so that it could beat forecasts. Anyway, can't re-write history and the good news is the HZD are sticking to their forecast of being EBITDA positive this year; an increase in guidance for 2017 at the time of publishing 2016 results is also not out of the question given the healthy forward order book.

Interim Results (20/09/16, Horizon Discovery guided that revenue for FY16 would be in the range of £24-26M. Today they have announced revenue for FY16 to be at least £24M, so they are nicely in line.

IMO they will beat over the next few years. I see these companies building for scale and then outperforming.

Mamcw - The TU states 'at least £24M' so we won't be a million miles away (probs less than one million £! away). But I agree with your sentiment.

I'm nicely in profit now after the recent rise and prepared to stay the course here as we continue to build scale - this is not a short term punt but (IMV) could easily be a long term winner. DYOR.

Although HZD refer to "consensus" in the RNS, the trading update is very much at the bottom end of the range. I have a copy of a detailed research note from RBC Capital Market issued on 1 December 2016. They were looking for £25.3m t/o this year and £34.2m next year. For this year, they were looking for 46.8% growth in Products (guidance now at least 44%) and 9.5% in Services (guidance now at least 4%). Cash at £6m at year end is also £3.3m below RBC expectations.
So whilst the opportunity is as big as ever and management appear to be doing many good things, the reality of delivery in terms of financials continues to be only average.
A long term investment has just become a bit longer.

The RNS states'...To date, Horizon has engaged with customers in 29 cell line evaluations, leading to a total of 10 licenses taken contributing over £1.75 million in revenues. A further 16 cell line evaluations are currently underway, several of which are expected to conclude within Q1 2017.'

Taking a simplistic approach that the 10 existing licences contributed an equal 175k, then another 3 licences would add between 500 and 700k to revenues from Q2 onwards and if they manage to sign up 10 over the course of the year, then a further 1.75m. As 2016 annual revenues will be somewhere over £20m, that's a useful contribution, which will support 2017 revenue forecasts,

Agreed. The only downside of these licenses is that they cost money, but I think the co is right to keep its IP comprehensive if they are to build a reputation as the go-to place for tailored cell-lines.
