Sold the remainder of my shares this morning. No value left in company. The only good thing is that HMV have provided enough time for shareholders like myself to ponder and then bale out. Like Waterstones, HMV will likely go to private equity and continue to trade on the High St in some form or another. Pity.

Not that any of it is helping HMV, down 22% today.

Why?

Probably because Taken and Taken 2 is on preorder at Amazon for £20.99

HMV, if they are still around when it is launched £25.00

The news comes less than a month after the company published its interim results disclosing that there was uncertainty as to the level of trading results that could be achieved in the year ahead due in part to the volatility in the group's core music, visual and games markets and current market trading conditions.

The December interim results stated that HMV's current trading performance was not in line with expectations and that the group was unlikely to achieve previous expectations for the full year.

HMV said "The directors believe that the group will be able to meet their liabilities as they fall due, including the £30m amortisation payment due in January 2013, and will have adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future."

Popped into my local HMV, other customers I was speaking with all agreed in all but name it was a closing down sale.

One of the sales assistants informed a customer that they had had very little new stock in since Christmas and are likely to get very little new stock in for the foreseeable future.
