Kenway Corp. acquired by Pennsylvania firm

Augusta-based Kenway Corp., which manufactures custom composite products for a wide range of industries, announced Monday that it has been acquired by Creative Pultrusions Inc., located in Pennsylvania.

The Kennebec Journal reported that Kenway and its 70 employees are expected to remain in Augusta as a division of CPI, itself a subsidiary of United Kingdom-based Hill & Smith Holdings PLC.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed by the privately held companies.

'Reliable growth'


Also making gains since the start of the year has been infrastructure products and galvanizing services specialist Hill & Smith (LSE: HILS). Its shares have risen by 7% in the year-to-date and, judging by the company’s reliable track record of growth, more gains could lie ahead.

In the last five years, Hill & Smith has increased its bottom line at an annualised rate of over 13%. This has allowed it to deliver a dividend increase in line with profit growth, due partly to the relatively consistent performance of the company. Its earnings have grown in each of those five years, and are forecast to do the same in 2017 and 2018. This should allow for further dividend growth over the medium term, since shareholder payouts are currently covered 2.5 times by profit.

While Hill & Smith may only yield 2.2% at present, its potential for rapid dividend growth could lead to improved investor sentiment as inflation edges higher. In addition, its price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 17.9 indicates fair value for money, given its relatively high chance of strong earnings growth in future.

Hee hee. How high? Be careful the share price isn't listening to you Smokey, or it just might agree with your surprise and do something about it :) as it's just about on the border crossing of overbought territory.

. . . Looking back over the last 5 years price action, Hils is one of those shares that travels into overbought on regular, and numerous occasions - but it doesn't appear to retrace deeply or nastily when its had enough of overbought.

. . . That little (and I do mean little) retrace the other week, is the type of chance as seen by investors over the past 5 years, that they will get for a top-up or new investors to buy in when it does a 'retrace' if you can call it that. More like a gentle flucuation when taking a long term look at it.

Yup excellent results prompting me to buy back in at the same price I sold out a few months ago, what pleased me was the acceleration across most areas of the business even before currency benefits. As you say top class.

Brexit: UK plc never had it so good, says Nimmo


Star smaller companies fund manager Harry Nimmo continues to be a post-Brexit bull, saying the UK economy has 'confounded the pessimists' and 'moved back to the top of the list in terms of GDP growth over the next year'.

Nimmo, who also runs the SLI UK Smaller Companies +open-ended fund, said he added to UK companies with overseas exposure, particularly to the US, such as Hill & Smith (HILS +), the maker of roadside safety equipment; Midwich (MIDW +), a distributor of visual display units; and 4imprint (FOUR +), a US-oriented sales display company.
