17/5/2018 19:24 | You really are a tedious chap. You need to factor in Sterling weakness. Basically neither gold or hgm has done much beyond normal trading noise during the past few months. Relax, and focus on yourself. | shadyhill
17/5/2018 18:52 | Shadyhill, You posted this about 45 days ago: ""Gold looking like hitting the 1287 target in the next 4/5 trading days. Should be a great entry point." At the time the HGM share price was ~153p and gold was at $1325/oz. HGM's lowest point was about 10 days later, on April 10th, 138p, when gold was at $1339/oz and would hit $1353/oz the next day (its highest point since your prediction). Gold has been falling back but HGM is actually holding up well. Conclusions: 1. You were right that POG would fall back to $1285/oz 2. You were wrong about the time (you said next 4/5 trading days, actually it was ~45 days later) 3. You were wrong about correlating the "great entry point" to $1285/oz. The best entry point was actually April 10th when gold was roaring ahead and a day before POG would reach its highest point since you made the prediction. So, so much for your gold crystal ball. | casual47
17/5/2018 18:12 | Steve - dollar strength is here to stay. But this does not preclude a rise in gold. | shadyhill

17/5/2018 16:41 | Just a couple of months after Charles Jeannes had made that statement the POG plummeted to $1050/oz | casual47
17/5/2018 16:36 | Don't get too excited as this has become a bit of an old chestnut now....: "Charles Jeannes, the CEO of Goldcorp, the world's largest gold miner by market capitalization, stated in September 2014 that Peak Gold would be reached in either 2014 or 2015. "Whether it is this year or next year, I don't think we will ever see the gold production reach these levels again," he claimed. "There are just not that many new mines being found and developed."" Not to mention there is a seemingly endless supply of paper gold........ | casual47
17/5/2018 16:29 | F2 So the price rises through shortage are you thinking? | srpactive
17/5/2018 16:27 | Missed this from yesterday... "All major gold deposits have been discovered, Goldcorp chairman says" "Gold produced from mines has gone up pretty steadily for 40 years,” Telfer tells the Financial Post. “Well, either this year it starts to go down, or next year it starts to go down, or it’s already going down... We're right at peak gold here." | fangorn2

09/5/2018 20:42 | mw8156 - There is new production coming on line with several mines in the pipe line. | loganair
09/5/2018 17:10 | so there are about 18-20 years' reserves at current production but the grade has dropped a long way; nevertheless, all in cost of production is relatively cheap in the lowest quartile per ounce; would that be a fair summary by an amateur? | mw8156

09/5/2018 09:26 | Yes Coxsmn. Long term dollar is still looking weak, it will happen and some point, which will help gold. Long term still good on HGM, although we get the odd surprise, like ops cost increase for 1 quarter last year and the drop in prod for Q1- they always address very fast which is very good. They are in control too, unlike RRS etc with DRC. Expansion is good, and this is key when supply is widely expected to reduce over the years- many miners have money but can't find new places to spend it. Fingers crossed as always. | stevedaytrader
09/5/2018 08:32 | assuming POG holds or increases. | coxsmn |
