In the mean timme, go long the DOW.

Share prices maybe going up, sadly this going up is not built on fundamentals of real growth and investment.

Indeed, but on the bright side, share prices are going up.

The benefits of the tax cuts will start to lessen by the end of the year and most of the tax cuts seem to be going into share buy backs instead of investing for growth.

I have never liked how in the US they report EPS rather than the profit a particular company has actually made as over the past 5 years 80% of all EPS in the S&P 500 has come from share buy backs and only 20% from real growth.

I do not listen to the likes of Citi. These guys usually put out wrong data and trade the other way.

Dragi and the ECB are well stuffed......can not stop buying EU bonds or the €/EU will collapse.

Will try to find the link about this.

@LoganAir

Adam Posen on Bloomberglive just said simialr re no US recession for next 3yrs odd due to massive amount of stimulus/tax cuts that has been pumped into the economy.

steve - Agreed, however every time in the past once the world starts to tighten monetary policy the stock market crashes and there is a recession.

Now reporting do not expect ECB to stop their QE until the end of the year which makes them way behind the curve, so far behind I think they're out of sight of the curve.

Personally I think there will be a recession some time next year. For Citi to say they do not see a recession for the next 3 years????????

As I have said before I don’t see another recession in 2018. always harder to tell greater than 6months out.

Interesting, Citi Group Head of Global Strategy says 3 Fed rate hikes this year and 3 in 2019 and there will be no recession in the next 3 years.

I do not know where she is coming from as Citi are the only ones saying they do not see a recession around the corner.

I increased my holding on Tuesday, currently on in Toronto for a break, where the temperature is 2 degrees and still snow on the pavements, I hear London's on a mini heatwave.

Numis always quotes HGM over 200, never seen an impact on what they say- waste of space and they never provide strong rationale. Gold moves us higher, anything can happen pre ex divi with stocks sometimes they rise sometimes they fall, some people don’t want to take the capital hit overnight. Long term of course this remains a bargain and certainly at this price. I sold some other stocks to buy more on Monday as want more divi and long term benefit.

Gary: re your post 11993:
I am also looking at GFRD but not yet committed.
Since you bought 20K , i.e. a fair bunch , you must have done a good bit of research on it .
I am having some difficulty getting a reliable picture of the GFRD fundamentals.
Different sites list different figures . That may be due to the share dilution due to the rights issue (1 in 3).
They planned to issue 27.74M new shares but maybe they issued some more due to excess subscription.
At the moment 110.96m shares are listed with voting rights . Up to date ??
Anyhow, ADVFN lists a PE of 6.08 which is the figure quoted by you.
The LSE London Southeast site are listing a PE of 16.68, quite some difference .
GFRD in their H1 HY report quoted net debts of 85million. This differs grossly from the ADVFN figure of 1.32B(if I read this correctly) .
ADVFN quote a divi of 96p/year which at todays close gives a yield of 10.8% .GFRD moved up today in late day trading.
I wish I had correct figures for the fundamentals to plan an investment in GFRD .

I will also post this on the GFRD thread in the hope to gain better insight .
