Highland Gold mulling M&A to utilize existing assets, could buy license from
Polymetal

MOSCOW. Oct 12 (Interfax) - Highland Gold Mining (HGM) is considering M&A deals in the vicinity of its existing assets, the company's CEO, Denis Alexandrov, told Interfax on the sidelines of Minex 2017.

"We have a large, good and deep organic growth pipeline and we have plenty to keep us occupied. We're certainly in no rush from the point of view of buying or merging with anybody," he said.

"What we are looking at is fields close to our existing mines. I think development via hubs is the right thing to do. We have the Novo-Shirokinskoye and Khabarovsk hubs and we're ready to look, very closely, at everything in the vicinity, at whether to form partnerships of some kind, invest money, develop something jointly or buy something," he said.

HGM is, for example, thinking of buying the Avlayakan field in the Khabarovsk territory from Polymetal (MOEX: POLY), Alexandrov said.

"This is still open. We're still discussing with them whether to buy ore, or the whole field," he said. "I'm hoping we'll come to an agreement, but the only thing is that time isn't pressing, whether for them or for us," he said. Reserves at HGM's Mnogovershinnoye, which could be topped up by Avlayakan, will last until 2022, while Polymetal itself mines rich ores at the field at present, Alexandrov said.

Alexandrov said last year that it was prepared to buy 100,000-300,000 tonnes of Avlayakan ore per year from Polymetal.

A broker would only get involved if the company had given
them signs, the company is in good shape and looking
to get a lot better, dyor.

why place shares to raise cash when hgm are generating a lot of cash through it's ops, plus have credit lines of $479m, after sberbank opened a credit line of $200m in august.

the clue maybe in the name of the joint broker. BMO markets aka bank of montreal.

canadian tsx listing? north american investor/s wanting to take a stake? something else?

cracking business, huge dividend and a prospective doubling at least of production in the next few years.

lots of news due this quarter......1 x dfs, 2 x pfs, resource updates amongst other things

*Early estimates show that the site could add Russian-standard reserves of up to 448.3k tonnes of ore at 4.45 g/t and 2 tonnes of gold (65k oz) to MNV's operations. Evaluation of the remaining ore bodies will be completed after all of the exploration results are collated.*

as well as extending mine life, that's nearly double the current grade being fed into the mill.

*Highland Gold's Board of Directors has approved funding for design work on a potential heap leach operation at the ZIF-1 Tailings licence. A technological flowsheet drafted by Irgiredmet anticipates annual throughput of up to 840 kt of ore. A tender to select a contractor for developing design documentation was conducted and results are currently being finalised.*

0.84mmtpa heap leach operation, which will require minimal capex will not only add to the future gold production, but more importantly keep the locals happy who have been pressing hgm to restart operations in the area, due to high unemployment in the area.

Bright future

Reporting on Wednesday was Highland Gold Mining (LSE: HGM). The company announced its operating results for the third quarter of the year today and said production at its MNV, Novo and Belaya Gora projects was 71,767 ounces of gold and gold equivalent, versus 62,601 ounces in the same period of the prior year. This represents an increase of 14.6%, with its production in the first nine months of the year being 6.6% up on the same period of the previous year.

The company recorded an average realised gold price of $1,280 per ounce. It is on track to deliver total production of gold and gold equivalent at the upper end of its guidance range of 255,000-265,000 ounces for the full year.

Looking ahead, Highland Gold is forecast to post a rise in its bottom line of 35% in the current year, followed by further growth of 18% next year. This puts the stock on a price-to-earnings growth (PEG) ratio of just 0.5, which suggests it offers high growth at a very reasonable price.

Furthermore, with a dividend yield of 6.4% from a payout which is covered 1.6 times by profit, its income potential remains exceptionally high. With the potential for a higher gold price should global geopolitical risks increase, Highland Gold Mining could be a star performer in the long run.
