That makes me either brave or stupid. What bothers me is that I've never been called brave...

This stock is only for the brave. No more then £500.00 to be invested. Treat it as a loss and forget about it.

For the less brave try Digital Classics Plc. In the last 3 working days, stock has risen by approximately 60%.

I remember when buys like this guaranteed huge rises in this stock as shares were not that plentiful. Seems a little worrying that with such large buys the MM feels no need to mark-up. I know the buys aren't worth as much anymore but nevertheless...
They seem to be anticipating the worst. Unless a hike up is around the corner. I hope so!!!

Just had a look at this one (but did look a few months ago) and decided it's worth a punt.

I'm jumping on board - I took this trading statement as good news since if they'd failed either to negotiate or repay it then things would have been dire.

Must be worth a £500 bet, can't believe a company with such a reputation is only worth £730,000 at todays price, could have a whip round on this board and make an offer ourselves!

New Study for one of World's most remote Inhabited Islands

Business consultant High-Point Rendel is to prepare a detailed report on future shipping services to St Helena, the British Overseas Territory in the south Atlantic.

The volcanic island's only transport link with the rest of the world is the "RMS" - the Royal Mail Steamship St Helena.

The RMS, which calls at the island 25 times a year, provides external links and supplies for St Helena's inhabitants and transport for cruise visitors, principally from the UK, Europe and South Africa.

High-Point Rendel has a wealth of experience in St Helena, where Napoleon was exiled, and ultimately died. Since 1993 it has conducted several studies on shipping access, coastal erosion, the development of tourism and the feasibility of the island's first airport.

Maintaining the RMS service involves a government subsidy of around £1.5
million annually as the ship costs £5.5m to operate and revenue is only just in excess of £4 million.

A replacement would be needed within the next years when the present vessel becomes obsolete, but even if built in a low-cost shipyard, it will cost around £26 million. The UK Government is prepared to contribute this sum towards a partnership deal with the private sector, to construct an airport instead.

However, the steep terrain of the island will make this a challenging project - St Helena was one of the few strategic islands not to attract a military airfield in World War 11 for this reason - and the likely cost of a new airport is estimated by High-Point Rendel at more than £40 million.

Following High-Point Rendel's study on the construction of an airport, the St Helena Government has invited proposals from private groups.

But it will be some time before the airport is completed, and High-Point Rendel is now to conduct a detailed examination of the service currently operated by the RMS during the design and construction period.

It will take account of how, by re-scheduling, the ship could cost less to operate, and will also study how sea freight and cruise passengers might be handled when the new airport becomes fully operational.

The 6,767 tonne vessel RMS was built in Scotland in 1989 and can carry 1,500 tonnes of freight and up to 128 passengers. Tourism currently makes a contribution to the island's economy with around 750 transit and longer-stay visitors arriving via the ship.

About 3,500 cruise line passengers also call at the island annually from ships such as the QE 11 on long-distance voyages.

The RMS currently returns quarterly to Portland, Dorset (its former British port of call was Cardiff); calls 15 times a year at Ascension Island - the nearest land some 1,125 kilometres to the north - Cape Town, South Africa (10 annual visits) and, less frequently, the islands of Tristan de Cunha and Tenerife and the Spanish port of Vigo.

Among options to be studied by High-Point Rendel is the reduction of visits to Britain, the concentration of the ship's activities in the south Atlantic, and how the service could contribute more to St Helena's tourist industry.

The company's team will comprise senior shipping, finance and tourism specialists and will be led by Jeff Ody, consultant director of economics, who also led three previous transport studies on the island.

High-Point will help make Scarborough Fair

Business and technology consultant High-Point Rendel is to undertake a geotechnical and coastal structures appraisal report for Scarborough Council on the area around the town's historic Spa.

The council is embarking on a feasibility study on the possible redevelopment or refurbishment of the prime conference and theatre complex. The High-Point Rendel team has been asked to make recommendations on a number of options for the major seafront facility and expects to complete its report by the end of May.

It is the latest in a series of geotechnical and civil engineering commissions in the Scarborough area in which the company has been involved. They have included the design and supervision of the ongoing pounds 34 million coastal defence scheme in Scarborough (left), and coastal monitoring, studies and major schemes at Runswick Bay, Robin Hoods Bay and Staithes.

This stock has an unhealthy feel to it. Contracts are awarded and work gets completed but the fees go awol. The management were once well regarded but everything seems wrong. I now expect a mandatory bid by management at 1p? per share. They will be using the money we paid them to buy this company on the cheap.

I am surprised again that there has nopt been a T trade announced just after the close - the 20% dro[p occurred during the day and I thought that it was because of a large sell - maybe it will come through later but otherwise it is unexplained !!

I know that there are only 2 market makers on this stock, bur the spread is ridiculous - given the buys today I am surprised that the bid has not risen to 4p at least...

Hupper,

Given that this is the sole doubtful factor, the dropm today is not warranted - they still have more than 3 weeks to receive this money - the upside potential of this is worth the risk - I do not have a lot in here...but I was in CRI and that proved profitable, so I shall take the risk again with this one....

....roll on 20p !!!

Looks like net debt of £5.977m to me, hope they get that £5.1m they are owed.

Looks like this month is boom or bust from the previous AFX news

'The company also said that talks were still on-going with a third party
financial institution to enable the company to continue to run the business.
Palmer said on Feb 28, the company's overdraft facilities were renewed for a
further 12 months and 1.4 mln stg of the overdraft facility was converted into a
loan repayable by May 31, 2003 or on settlement of additional fee entitlements
on certain long term contracts.
"The reduction of the group's borrowings remains our fundamental priority,"
he added.'
