07/1/2002 11:47 | I have got a question to ask the reg DAY posters on this thread, croc, ruth etc, I am a range trader and any posts I usully would make are directed towards trades from a few days to a few weeks. I may have something to offer here. However I am not a daytrader and have no experiance here and much to learn from u all. Do you wish me to contribute on these terms or should i just sit back and learn for the time being ? btw croc did you get my email | paulismyname
07/1/2002 11:47 | Ruth I sold my IMac because it did not run the GNI platform. But it was very nice and as you say reliable. Fortunately have found XP to be 10 times better than Win ME. Not perfect but very reliable overall. D. | crocodile
07/1/2002 11:46 | anyone else watching EGS on L2??? Whats going on? | m_p_h
07/1/2002 11:44 | Random, always goes at the worst times,my problem is that i have 3 computers sharing the same connection ,if the main one goes down,i have to rebbot all 3 back up to re set up the shared internet connection, | ruth
07/1/2002 11:44 | random, not all the trading software works under Linux because it uses Active X stuff. Which is why it crashes (a Microsoft 'innovation ;-)! This is why I use this VM Ware, if Windows crashes it's running in a window in LINUX. The window closes and I simply reopen it. Takes very little time at all. Of course anything that will run in LINUX I do 'cos it's faster. | rdj20
07/1/2002 11:43 | Ruth - They do look very nice too !!! Would love that cube shape one with a 17inch flat screen. | phil_silver
07/1/2002 11:41 | Closed BAY Short lost a pt. (foolish) | phil_silver
07/1/2002 11:41 | Dave, just out of curiosity how do you rate apple computers,i have been told they are 28% dearer than a comparitive pc,but the graphics are supposed to be better, but i only use the internet, not interested in graphics, thanks in advance | ruth
07/1/2002 11:35 | Macs do crash a bit less, but they can freeze. System X is based on unix, so should be even more reliable, but I have not used it yet. Linux is very reliable, and I have used it. Whether it works with all the trading software used is another question. I have had problems with my pc crashing at crucial moments as well. All versions of Windoze are buggy. | random
07/1/2002 11:35 | Thanks rdj,Dave.ill look into them | ruth
07/1/2002 11:33 | Groupe Chez Gerrad profit warning. Blames turndown in tourist trade. | crocodile

07/1/2002 11:28 | Glad to see BII finally cracking above 120p. It's been a long wait for my 4 contracts :) but as matthewa has said before, it's a muppet share. Still long. Look for pull back before extending long. Just gone long SGP on March spreadbet at 74.7p. Short term breakout assisted by today's acquisition news. Results due soon which hopefully will confirm the continuing growth story. There is huge resistance at 82-85, but if that finally blows, FTSE350 beckons. Specto - sad to say I haven't been long MKS for ages but won't short such a positive chart (he says, having shorted AHM at the top) :) Bones | bones
07/1/2002 11:24 | Always the way Ruth. Users of Mac's will always swear blind to their reliability. Croc's the resident IT expert isnt he ? unfortunately I know little about them. Always the way though just when you least need a crash..... it happens. | phil_silver
07/1/2002 11:23 | ruth Try WinXP on your PC, it's very good. D. Re traders meetings. January: Last Thursday My home. February: Manchester (hopefuly) March: Northern Ireland, date to be arranged. | crocodile
07/1/2002 11:22 | Anyone know anything about SYR (synergy healthcare) 5.9% up today seems to be little stock about as small buys are pushing the price up. Spread was at 4% although is narrowing slightly now 3% Think Matthew might know something on it .... | phil_silver
07/1/2002 11:22 | ruth, go for a LINUX system if you want stability. Also, the software is very efficient so your computer will tend to run faster. I you need Windows you can have what is called a dual boot. You choose when you turn it on which OS to use. Also, you can get 'VM ware' for about £100 which allows you to run Windows in a window in LINUX. One advantage of LINUX is that it allows you not only to have windows but multiple screens. Set up say five screens then hit F1 for the first screen, F2 for the second etc. Far more advanced than Windows and super stable. Perfect for trading. | rdj20
07/1/2002 11:18 | Doddy - 50k BII 2p over, looks good for you at the moment. | spectoacc

07/1/2002 11:05 | wd doddy, looks a good one, traded it a lot but not currently in. forwood - I've always regarded OCH as a dog, but I believe there's a 60p target out there from one of the insts. | spectoacc |
