30/9/2010 19:48 | Yes, another fine mess this company has got into - buying property at the top of the market and, just as bad, selling at the bottom. The balance sheet had £15.5m attributable to equity interests 3 years ago and now it is minus £21.4m. Properties are valued at £44m and net debt is about £55m. So who would want to buy this company? It only has two attractions. One is the stockmarket quote, but this is AIM, not the main market, and a reverse takeover would still require a prospectus so that is not particularly attractive. The second is the accumulated losses, both trading and capital. These would only be worthwhile to a company that could make use of them. If such a company were to be found how much would they value Hawtin? Not a lot - this is 2010, not the dot com boom. | sharw
30/9/2010 19:04 | Sadly as a holder since the early 1970's, just another case of Hawtin always going down the wrong path at the time of a mkt disaster. Early 70's they became a secondary bank, just in time for the 1974 bank crisis. A phoenix share if ever there was one, i have learnt all i know from Hawtin !!! Someday I will get my 100 quid back, worth it to learn. I did meet a man who has an enormous holding of shares from the '60s. Very good luck to all who sail in her. | haydock
30/9/2010 16:25 | The management of Hawtin are a total disaster, the stock is worthless, what an exercise in shareholder value destruction this has been. They bought into commercial property right at the top. | arthur_lame_stocks
30/9/2010 16:12 | No, I think it'll survive. I'll average when it settles and we get more news about the Millennium Plaza. I saw it a twelve month ago but my money was already in the share. | meict
30/9/2010 15:53 | I reckon goodbye | solarno lopez
30/9/2010 15:48 | Perhaps you'd better buy some more. I've just been quoted 2.475p. A good buy (or goodbye) at 1p. | meict
30/9/2010 09:11 | Okay so I will play on my own.... boo hoo hoo | solarno lopez
30/9/2010 08:42 | Just bought a few more | solarno lopez
30/9/2010 08:14 | VERY STRONGLY SUGGEST you read today's RNS the company is re-inventing itself and an early purchase may not go amiss ..and yes I have just picked up a few | solarno lopez
07/9/2010 10:17 | So, HTI has sold its share of the Wirral property for £275,000 against a net book value of £175,000. That sounds very good until you realise that they are talking about the book value as written down. HTI actually paid £1.625m for this in Spring 2007 so that is a loss of £1.35m, or 83% of the original investment. | sharw
07/6/2010 15:38 | Looks a possibility for a reverse takeover by a property trading company wanting a listing, though you may need 1000 or 10,000 of these to even get a share in that. However, even by its own figures it is 90% mortgaged, difficult to see the banks not repossessing so to speak, they will get probably all their loans back. The 10% would go to the auditors so only very large shareholders would get cheques. Sell if you have more than 1% of your portfolio here SAF will be next to announce and I suspect that will be admin. A propert company that is not paying a dividend "because we do not have any cash to pay anything" seems to me to be positioning itself for the end game. All this talk about the hard work of the directors is hogwash compared to THG, and thats not walking on water neither. | mryesyes
01/6/2010 12:20 | It doesn't bode well, as the Annual Accounts are going to be posted to shareholders next Monday whilst the AGM is to be held, at Eversheds in Cardiff, on 30 June. Eversheds' offices are just round the corner from the bus and railway stations and in close proximity to the Millennium Plaza. I don't know when the Accounts are going to be posted on-line but it's likely that we'll see it them on Monday or later in the week. Meic | meict
31/5/2010 21:07 | Well, no mention of Hawtin's annual accounts in this week's Company Diary. Perhaps I'd better call them again, five months to prepare and audit a company as small as Hawtin is a long time. My main interest is the £10+ million that they spent late last year on a property at Swansea. Obviously, this was no point in sharing it with the shareholders or anything else for that matter. I'll call them tomorrow sometime don't hold your breath and get another update, perhaps they meant the end of May 2011! Meic | meict
28/5/2010 10:29 | No, I didn't buy any more shares in Hawtin. An interesting situation! I rang Hawtin, as you can see (Post 256) on the 24th. The girl who answered made enquiries and said that the accounts would be published before the end of the month. Obviously somebody has made a mistake as there's nothing today and Monday, the 31st, is a Bank Holiday. They must have meant that they were to be published before the end of next week. If there's no announcement in the Company Diary for next week I'll call them again. Doesn't bode well, does it? Meic | meict
27/5/2010 17:20 | Thanks, meic. Were you the buyer of 24,000 odd today then? | mryesyes
24/5/2010 13:01 | Rang Hawtin and teased the girl that answered the phone - she didn't know the correct pronunciation of the Welsh town where she was born. The accounts will be published before the end of May. Meic | meict
23/5/2010 22:21 | As I mentioned in post 252 above, the Final Results were publishes by now last year (on 21 May) but nothing has been seen since the news about the renting of the building at Rhymney on the 28th of April. There are no registered announcements for the coming week so it may be beneficial if I call them and report back. Meic | meict
13/5/2010 16:57 | wait on by while the rest of us reinvest in 2010 plays | mryesyes
12/5/2010 07:06 | why so much damaging disinformation on this penny stock defeats me !!!! this company is not suspended, nor is it likely to be. looking forward to more positive news. | cg1953
11/5/2010 09:59 | Rubbish! Why upset people with your nonsense? You are not going to get the price down using this tactic. Hawtin's website HAS recently been updated with the announcement that the property at Rhymney has been let. Why not change your name to mrnono? Look at THG for other posts by mryesyes. And his posts on this BB from 243 onwards. I don't understand his motives. A laugh will do you good but trying to bring misery to other people is not nice. If anybody is worried I suggest you telephone the company. Alternatively, the annual accounts were published on 21 May last year so you won't have long to wait. | meict
10/5/2010 23:58 | ever seen a website updated after a company folds? a few sells at 3.75, this is risk without hope of reward, ask yourself why you bought in the first place... understand 50% of holders, reason for not selling is cannot cover dealing costs, thats sorta bit like finito? | mryesyes
07/5/2010 09:05 | The shares are not suspended according to the web site | solarno lopez
07/5/2010 08:53 | unaudited now, suspended | mryesyes
08/4/2010 14:26 | Forcing the price down? There have been some sales since this rumour started but the spread appears to be somewhat wide. When are the final results published? The Annual Report was published in May last year. I got rid of most of my holding some time ago but still have a little over 50,000. Perhaps I'll buy again. M | meict |
