They should have known that this was going to happen and invested in decent technology, but why would they? they know they will never lose out. I've copy and pasted the 7/8 messages that their platform generated. You couldn't make it up.

The site is working now, except they give you 15 seconds to accept a deal, and their servers take more than 15 seconds to respond. So no deals go through. Whenever you complain to these people about something you get a condescending pat on the head. If the same attitude is in their IT department, that explains why they can never get it together. "The servers were down, oh that's all right, they can always call their orders in. We'll even charge them online rates - aren't we big and helpful to those poor little people! No need to upgrade the system - it's all right most days!"

Best name yet for these nutters. Use this thread to record their many failings. Like website going down any time there's a spike in dealing.

Managed to sell at last. As a matter of principle they should refund the commission for time wasted this morning.

I think it should be raised with their Regulatory, the FCA

Oy, Hargreaves! Please exempt yourself from the next big IPO. It stops your regular clients doing their regular business. I didn't even apply for Royal Mail shares. I just want to do some regular trading. You do this every time, don't you. Every April when the new ISAs start, Hargreaves goes down. Get a grip.

Is the crash so bad that they can't let us know by e mail what is going on. Reputation badly dented.

No access at all today, phone lines constantly engaged. Somewhat unimpressed!

If they don't have the capacity to handle this sort of event, perhaps they shouldn't take part. It must be possible to say, "Sorry, we won't be processing RMG share applications because our systems can't handle the extra demand. Please try our competitors X, Y or Z."

I have written to the CEO to complain. Not what you expect from a lead player. Surely the Regulators should be asking questions.

I agree. A disgrace for a FTSE 100 Stockbroker with goodness knows how much under Mgmt. And the share price goes up!

Excellent set of results. As usual, the best companies have the quietest boards.

Very quiet on this Board and results are due in about 10 days time. The main issues for me are a) the dividend payout level and b) whether the increase in earnings can progress the share price upwards from the £10 level. The brokers seem to be in disarray here and the historic PE demands good numbers to support it. Are we going to get them?
