Many thanks, ianguerin. I will take a look at the website to check that it is easy to navigate and provides plenty of information wrt e.g. the history of purchases and sales, ease of transactions. A son has an account with Fidelity for US purchases and I am not impressed.

HL. – Hargreaves Lansdowne
3*
Hargreaves Lansdowne issued a decent AUM update for the 3 months ended September 2024. AUA finished the quarter at £157.3 billion driven by a positive market movement of £1.5 billion and net new business of £0.5 billion (Q1 2024: £0.6bn). The Group saw accelerated client growth with net client growth of 18,000 in the quarter (Q1 2024: 8,000) driven by net new clients in the SIPP, ISA and Active Savings accounts. Agreed, Lomax99. I am so disgusted that I and my family will be moving our various SIPPs, ISAs and funds out to someone else. A pity because I thought very highly of the website and almost all of the people I dealt with over many, many years. Not sour grapes. Various funds making 35-40% including divi even at the current price. £15 should have been nailed on for this business..

Anyone have an alternative for family funds to switch to that they are really happy with?

The trading update show performance metrics heading up, just as it is agreed to sell the business for a derisory price.

You can still buy in the market should you wish to, at around 1,086p, and should get 1,110p early 2025 when the takeover finally completes.

Is it too late to get in on this or has the deadline passed for the pay off.

Hargreaves Lansdown PLC - Bristol, England-based wealth management platform - Acquisition by a private equity consortium led by CVC Capital Partners PLC is set to complete in the first quarter of 2025, Hargreaves says, as shareholders on Monday approve the offer. The general meeting vote is 86.6% for and 13.4% against. Hargreaves back in August accepted a GBP5.44 billion offer from a consortium made up of CVC private equity funds, Nordic Capital XI Delta and Platinum Ivy B 2018 RSC Ltd, part of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. Shareholders will receive 1,140 pence per share in cash, including a 30p dividend from Hargreaves.

So I was wrong about the xd - the share price still dropped nearly 30p!

The voting deadline for HL clients is 7pm this Weds (9 Oct) - so please vote if you haven't already! Other brokers may have a different deadline. The meetings about the takeover happen a week today (14 October) so it won't be long until we know if this is going ahead or not...

The shares go xd on Thursday morning (3rd Oct) - usually you'd expect the share price to drop about 30p... but I'm thinking it may not do this time due to the high likelihood of holders getting 1,110p per share in a few months time. I'll be interested to see what happens.

@Ochs - thank you. I think there are many unanswered questions in the documentation regarding the rollover option. I could quote some extracts but it seems to be too complex for the media to investigate (Bryce?). I would be grateful to anyone who can help with or point to an explanation of the eventual capital structure and the place of the rollover securities within it

Am I right in thinking that anyone taking the rollover option will have to go through KYC/AML procedures and sign at least one deed?

I thought exactly the same when I voted against both events this morning. I also noted that it couldn't be done via the App.Hope all other investors are also careful and use their votes. It's a terrible offer and hopefully another player may emerge to start a bidding war.

@Sleepy I get the impression we won't see the full details of the rollover option until after the vote on 14th Oct - assuming it goes through (as the company clearly expects) we'll then get more info.

Had a secure mesg from HL yesterday asking me to vote - note you can't do it on the app, only the web. For the record I've just voted AGAINST for my holding. The deadline is Weds 9 Oct, so best to all do it now!

Note you have to vote twice for each holding - for the EGM and for the court meeting. I actually had to vote 4 times as I have HL in ISA & dealing account!
