Only just fixed here, after 3 phone calls, and nearly an hour missed. Odd how it's different.

Miss it when can't get in.

I hope it fails as well. Would buy straight back in...... At about 800 or 900 when the share price drops. The shorters will be back if the deal fails....

I suspect it's to give him some certainty, not sure they would be running operational decisions passed the potential suitor. The bid price is too low by some margin, I hope it fails.

Perhaps a strange time for HL to make such an appointment @lomax99? Unless of course he's been given guarantees about his continued employment by the consortium, and that 'change' and 'transformation' is what they will be looking for...

Was thinking about the price this morning too. A couple interpretations with a 1095p price vs the 1110p+30p possible offer price:

1. the market is clearly not anticipating a higher offer

2. the fact that we're below 1110p let alone 1140p to me means one of a couple things. Either:

2a: there is a view that the the deal might not happen. The c.4% delta to 1140p is large compared to what you might see at this stage. That should in theory close a bit when the formal offer is announced...but its still wide

2b: the market thinks that the stub equity piece will be a core part of the offer such that as a shareholder you have to take some of that equity, or might have to take part of that equity (depending on what others want). Some offers will have the cash amount capped, some might have the equity amount capped...but there's quite a large portion of the register that won't be able to hold the equity (lots of institutions, people with shares in ISAs etc etc)

Hecla Announces Second Quarter Production
11/07/2024 12:00am

10% increase in silver production over year-to-date 2023

Hecla Mining Company (NYSE:HL) today announced its preliminary production results for the second quarter of 2024.

HIGHLIGHTS

Year to Date ("YTD") 2024 compared to YTD 2023

10% increase in silver production
Keno Hill produced 1.5 million ounces of silver, with milled throughput of 341 tons per day ("tpd") YTD and 406 tpd in the second quarter
Record quarterly throughput at Lucky Friday of 1,181 tpd
4% increase in Casa Berardi's gold production
“Hecla produced 4.5 million silver ounces during the quarter, an increase of 6% over the prior quarter, reflecting a full quarter of production at Lucky Friday with record throughput, improved throughput at Keno Hill and another solid performance by Greens Creek," said Cassie Boggs, Interim President and CEO. "At Keno Hill we continue to focus on improving the safety culture and environmental performance, positioning the mine for long term success and while our actions are starting to show positive results, more work is required at this operation. We are also in contact with and continue to monitor the positions of First Nation of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun, on whose Traditional Territory Keno Hill is partly located."

Boggs continued, “With Keno Hill's expected silver production to exceed 2.7 million ounces this year, Hecla is on track to produce about 17 million ounces in 2024, a nearly 20% growth rate from 2023, making Hecla the fastest growing established silver producer with production growth in the best geographical regions."

OPERATIONS

Greens Creek

Greens Creek produced 2.2 million ounces of silver and 14,137 ounces of gold in the second quarter, a decrease of 9% and 3%, respectively, compared to the first quarter, while processing 2,481 tpd. Silver production declined primarily due to grades reverting to plan resulting in a decrease of 6% compared to the first quarter, as well as slightly lower throughput.

Lucky Friday

Lucky Friday produced 1.3 million ounces of silver in the quarter, an increase of 23% over the first quarter, reflecting a full quarter of production compared to the first quarter when production resumed on January 9. Mill throughput was a quarterly record at 1,181 tpd, as the mine continues to see the benefit of investment in infrastructure and the UCB mining method. The Company collected $17.8 million in insurance proceeds during the quarter with total proceeds to date at $35.2 million of the $50 million policy sub-limit.

Casa Berardi

Casa Berardi produced 23,187 ounces of gold in the second quarter, an increase of 5% compared to the first quarter. Increased production during the quarter resulted from improved grades and recoveries, partly offset by lower throughput. The mill operated at an average of 4,033 tpd during the quarter.

Keno Hill

Keno Hill produced 900,440 ounces of silver, an increase of 39% compared with the 646,312 ounces produced in the first quarter. The increased production was due to higher and more consistent mill throughput that averaged 406 tpd, a 47% improvement over the first quarter. Silver grade was strong for the quarter averaging 25.1 ounces per ton.

While the Company’s focus on improving safety and environmental processes has delivered increased operational consistency, additional investment in infrastructure and continued focus on safety, environmental, permitting and mining practices, as well as relations with First Nation of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun remain key to delivering long term value at this operation.

Shorts closing ought to push the price up, but the market has pulled the share price back to under £11 in the last few days. Are there any rumours the bid might not proceed? All gone very quiet. Previously things were pretty leaky when the share price went up before the bid was announced... could same thing be happening? Not long to go now.

Well the shorts are nearly out, if HL. succumbs to the bid then they certainly will have served CVC et al well………

Anyone got access to this comment article in The Times by Patrick Hosking? "Bidders are chasing a bargain with Hargreaves Lansdown offer" I can only see the headline, but it looks worth a read.

Yes correct @Stoopid, if the bid falls through I would expect the share price to immediately drop back to somewhere between 850p and 900p. Of course in time it could get back towards £11.

It's hard to know what's going on behind the scenes... only Lancaster have gone public with their unease about the deal. A shame the board didn't respond to them via RNS, so others could read their defence.

Remember at present the Consortium are yet to make a firm offer - with the share price drifting over the last few days it makes me wonder if the market is getting nervous - are they still planning to proceed? Personally I still rate it at a 70% chance that the deal will go through, but I'm also hopeful that it won't.

How does no deal mean the share price should rise? What sort of logic is that? The share price before all the bid rumours was about 800/900If no deal emerges and the bid falls through, the share price will fall back to what the market and sellers/buyers determine a fair price is.

Unease grows over £5.4bn ‘two-tier’ deal to take Hargreaves Lansdown private

Two other City shareholders have now told The Times they have concerns.

“It doesn’t look like a knockout bid in terms of price,” one fund manager said, adding that it represented a discount to the valuations of listed rival AJ Bell and IntegraFin, which owns a platform used by financial advisers, as well as compared with where Hargreaves Lansdown has traded previously. Hargreaves Lansdown shares peaked above £24 in 2019 and by mid-afternoon on Friday were trading 7p, or 0.7 per cent, lower at £11.28.

Another fund manager called the “two-tier” criticism “a fair accusation” and said: “It isn’t ideal but my view is let nature take its course — in the next few weeks anything could happen.”
