19/12/2019 17:09 | One must assume that since a great deal of testing is involved with every new component investigated for coating, pricing is negotiated beforehand. Up to now it has been important to expand the present very small footprint across as many sectors as possible. The tipping point may come when manufacturers have to compete to get their heavy-duty components coated, and their customers insist on it. Some time to go yet I fear, but hang on in there. | dozey3
16/12/2019 07:50 | I am aware that some think that waiting a year for the new machines and the upgrade of the UK/US factories will delay improved sales and profitability. Generally any business prices it's products at a point where it thinks it can maximise it's profits whilst maintaining demand. Now even with these production constraints, record sales indicate demand is high for Hardide's products. Surley it can start upping the unit price as clearly they must be a premium product (quality wise) compared to the competition? | soundsplausible
11/12/2019 08:35 | It must be a hard coating vastly superior for such applications "Hardide-A coating selected as the replacement for hard chrome plating on various Airbus aircraft components" "Hardide-A coating selected for use on components for the new Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter" "Hardide-coated blades and vanes of steam and gas turbines used for power generation and used in the low temperature compressor part of an aircraft engine" "A 14-fold increase in sales of coated industrial diamonds" | johnwise
10/12/2019 22:26 | The new site will be much more prestigious 08/02/2019 "It will also present a more professional, premium quality image to potential aerospace, power generation and other customers." "The new facility will represent a significant upgrade when compared with the existing site, which is now quite old and has an unavoidably suboptimal layout. Moreover, its size prevents the installation of additional reactors." | johnwise

09/12/2019 11:24 | Chairman's comments in today's Final Results announcement: Commenting on the results, Robert Goddard, Chairman of Hardide, said: "Overall, this is a strong set of results. We are pleased to announce that Hardide has delivered a second year of record sales with a 10% increase to GBP5.1m. Sales grew across all sectors and an 18% rise in demand from North America means the region now accounts for 65% of Group sales. We are very pleased that the Martinsville facility (excluding overhead marketing costs) has achieved a positive EBITDA for the year for the first time since opening. Demand continues to be particularly buoyant in North America from the flow control, and oil and gas sectors. Of particular note is the selection of the Hardide-A coating by Airbus for a number of components on a range of aircraft. "We are looking forward to the relocation of the UK business to the new site in 2020 and the increase in capacity and new opportunities that it will bring. We have made a very positive start to the new financial year and the Board is confident of continued growth. This is a strategic priority and we are prepared to invest in additional R&D and marketing to achieve this and to position the company strongly for the future." | ansc

11/11/2019 13:44 | Not sure whether turbine blades are suitable for coating...can't see why not though. Given the size of the figures (£s)for costs for early wear on its engine blades by RR it might have been better to pay Hardide to install a line of coating machines. | meijiman

11/11/2019 10:32 | 11 November 2019 Hardide plc ("Hardide" or "the Company") Patent Award Hardide (AIM: HDD), the developer and provider of advanced surface coating technology, is pleased to announce that the Company has been granted a patent by the UK Intellectual Property Office covering a water droplet erosion resistant coating for turbine blades and other components. The patent relates to Hardide-coated blades and vanes of steam and gas turbines used for power generation, and to the blades and vanes used in the low temperature compressor part of an aircraft engine. The patent also covers Hardide-coated pump impellors, valves and other components that may be subject to cavitation erosion in a liquid. The Company is now proceeding with an application for an international patent under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) system. This will cover multiple territories. Philip Kirkham, CEO of Hardide plc, commented: "The grant of this new patent gives us further confidence and protection as we continue to make encouraging progress in our development work on steam and gas turbine blades in particular. We are working closely with EDF Energy and turbine manufacturers as we progress towards field testing following highly successful laboratory results. The degradation of turbine blades and vanes by water droplet erosion is a major problem throughout the industry. This wear mechanism seriously affects the efficiency of the turbine as well as premature replacement of the blades. The Hardide coating has been shown to significantly reduce these problems. "This is significant for the Company as the coating of steam and gas turbine blades is a potentially large, medium to long term market for Hardide. Near term potential exists for the coating of smaller components vulnerable to water droplet erosion and cavitation." | ansc
