“The Mexican government is close to reaching a deal with Talos Energy (NYSE:TALO) over the future of the Zama offshore oilfield that could include additional investment from state-owned Pemex, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said on Friday.”

“Harbour Energy has an interest in the giant Zama field in Mexico’s Sureste basin.”

“Harbour Energy: What you need to know about UK’s biggest independent producer”:

“Analysts at Jefferies rate Harbour as a ‘buy’ with a 680p price target, suggesting substantial upside to the current price of around 378p.

Jefferies analyst Mark Wilson in April identified Harbour among the London-listed oil firms most levered to higher crude prices.

The analyst upgraded Jefferies forecasts expecting to see Harbour generate some US$1.65bn of free cash flow, for a 28% free cash flow yield.”

Biden heading back to Saudi Arabia to beg them to pump more oil. Saudis are at their limit. Situation must be dire - oil price is only going one way

Three months is a longtime in the world of financial markets Elsa whilst the price of crude could well continue its upward momentum in the meantime!

Rejig date was May 24th while the tax grab was on May 26th. It will be demoted at the next quarterly rejig (August)unless the share price rises by approx 10% between now and then. Market cap needs to be over £3.85 billion to stay in (market cap of number 110 in the index classification).

Frankie,

Good to see you are still trying to tame this wild dog while it continues to take bites out of your wallet!

Good luck, you must be due some.

If HBR is kicked out of FTSE 100 after only a month it will be because the government made a tax grab on the very profits which sustained the share price before HBR joined the main index. That also explains the lack of reaction to the promotion to the 100: a windfall tax was being heavily trailed, and its effect was only recognised the day after it was announced,

By your logic ENQ, HUR and SQZ are also poorly run but TLW must be well run. To paraphrase someone "It's the North Sea, stupid".

Until there are sufficient viable global alternatives, O&G is here to stay, and unfortunately, major underinvestment in the sector means supplies are now extremely tight just as demand is ticking up.

RE: HBR No Brainer - 550p+ by August Update with $90+ Brent

"This was 400p last year with Brent at $60/70. So Oil price has nearly doubled, and the share price has gone lower"

Exactly, and interestingly to add to that during same period, Pound Sterling (GBP) has also devalued more than 11% Vs the USD $ (YoY, see FYI here below), and Oil (and Gas) are priced in USD $, hence with ~200K Oil production here plus our Gas, money is flowing in here big time, so again based on fundamentals, HBR share price will undoubtedly re-rate/be above 650 by this very year end.

Back2basics1. Heard this "we should be/will be" for last 2 years. Being kicked out of ftse100 after only a month is now very likely. What does that show us ? Poorly managed company that's what. I bet it falls if its chucked out even though it didnt rise when it joined. Waste of time and energy this dog. At least I made money with PMO, just a shambles since.

A steady Brent price of above $100 is already more than sufficient/good for a fair HBR MCap of close to double of what it is today! Daily fluctuations here are meaningless, especially on small volumes (and prior to holidays, volatility is such that I wouldn’t be surprised if we ended the day in blue, as IMO we certainly should), too many day traders have been on this share, now they will mostly disappear, hold tight even if only till the August company update, share price will be lot lot lot higher by then for sure at $100+ Brent (or even $80+ Brent!), DYOR.

Thanks buddy but it will be interesting to see how that EuroClear rate has fared in May but I'm not convinced they'll close for a profit just yet, I anticipate a little more pain...

Theres seems to be plenty of liquidity with HBR so it may not be GIC but there certainly is some institutional seller...

Its what Algos do buddy, follow the momentum either way, reduce their exposure as well as capitalising on any market weakness, it's how they manage their risk!

One_Frankel,

Stock on loan on euroclear was up to 6.48% here at end of April from 3.64% end March.

I would suspect that extra almost 3% might now close for a profit.

I am not convinced GIC have continued selling its been 20 days now and no RNS, I would have expected their notifiable holding would have changed by now. Besides the sell algos appear to be aimed at supressing the price, with large buys interspersed, the actions of shorts not a fund unwinding a position.

Today looked like some kind of inflection point here
Good luck all.

Let's hope so but there does seem to be a significant amount of algo trading restricting HBRs share price from any continuous upward momentum...But anyone aware of the number of institutional shorts currently?

“Well it seems our ii hasn't quite completed they're offloading just yet!”

We must be close now and thereafter, especially with $100+ PoO firmly in place, rally and significant upward rise back up here should also be pretty fast & furious!

... and surely those hedges will be running off to be replaced with others at the higher price.
