28/11/2011 15:57 | Are we really going to be bought out? Took some profits in case we see £6 again. | piedro
26/11/2011 23:10 | Noticed Frist Eagle buying here using CFD's. They do some interesting trades so I'm attempting to identify their other holdings too. To see what I've found so far check out the WAM thread: | praipus
25/11/2011 17:19 | Investors Chronicle page 12 says rivals are circling and suggests 875p to outbid Wartsila | alter ego
22/11/2011 15:53 | It's a fairly imited downside if you are a gambler, losing 10p against at least 50p (who would bother with less) on the upside. | peter27
22/11/2011 15:41 | I can only think that enough people believe 825 is not good enough to kill off a counter bid at a higher level. A view I happen to share. | alter ego
22/11/2011 15:08 | OK - so if the buy out is at 825p, why is the price up to 835p ? | gbb483
22/11/2011 11:49 | Approval by the Court of the arrangements is in January - read the offer document - payment should follow shortly - so end January for payment. | peter27
22/11/2011 11:33 | I would have thought more likely to be months - offer must be put to shareholders within 28 days, then shareholders have up to 60 days to decide. Of course of lots say yes then offer may go unconditional sooner. Then there's a wait for settlement. A counter offer would muddy the waters too. | alter ego
22/11/2011 11:19 | Does anyone know the possible timescale of the buyout? Is it likely to be weeks or months? Is there any complete by date? | donny13
22/11/2011 09:16 | Thanks for the analysis ae. shares being bought this morning at 830 so someone thinks there may be a counterbid! As the directors own less than 1% of the shares, their irrevocable undertaking goes for nothing and there is no indication in the offer document that any of the major shareholders have made such a commitment so I guess they are waiting to see whether anyone else comes along now that the company is in play. | peter27
21/11/2011 11:33 | more to the story ... Shipyards of BLRT Grupp will install scrubbers Ship-repair yards of BLRT Grupp and the marine industry's solutions provider Wärtsilä has signed a Co-operation Agreement aimed at promoting the exhaust gas purification systems (scrubbers). .... .... According to the analytics, scrubber market capacity may increase up to 70 billion dollars by the year 2025. | piedro
21/11/2011 11:14 | Interims tomorrow | piedro
19/11/2011 13:50 | "good chance of an offer from a competing bidder." | mdrans1
19/11/2011 12:04 | shame is one is going. Given current market cannot see bid b eing topped. Might as well bank the cash and reinvest. Currently looking at BKG and BSY. IMHO, DYOR. | honiton
19/11/2011 09:16 | Agree entirely alter ego, even at £825 it undervalues the company if you look eighteen months/two years into the future. Unfortunately a lot of investors are short term, however if investing for your pension then the sensible thing is to invest, reinvest dividends and leave well alone, obviously keep an eye on announcements etc but this reinvestment strategy still works today. Lets hope a bidding war starts and we realise the potential for this very well run company. | bothdavis
18/11/2011 12:34 | I agree with the cyclicality argument and am grateful Wartsilla didn't make their move 18 months ago. However, as a LTBH type investor, cycles are part of life and provide opportunity for top ups so long as the underlying business has a good future. I've been an investor in HMY since 2004 and have watched it grow in that time. The growth isn't about to peak anytime soon IMO. | alter ego
18/11/2011 12:21 | Perhaps alter ego but remember it is a cyclical business. Wartsilla are buying them halfway into the upcycle but at some point it will turn down again. | wjccghcc
18/11/2011 11:43 | I'm not just "quite sorry" to see them go, I'm very disappointed to be losing such a high quality stock from my portfolio. This is one which I had hoped would continue to grow year by year and become a much larger company with a correspondingly much higher market cap. Finding high quality stocks in the small cap sector is never easy so losing one as good as HMY is a real problem for investors in this space. Whilst £8.25 might look tempting today, especially if you simply trade for a quick buck, my bet is that it would look measly a few years down the line - which is no doubt exactly why Wartsilla are bidding. Given the strong position the company are in, I find it hard to see the logic of accepting a bid now. Short termism will no doubt win out again though. | alter ego
18/11/2011 11:36 | ... and then sold them again ... | gbb483
18/11/2011 11:34 | It's my understanding that UBS bought them for Wartsilla although why they picked up so few is another matter. | alter ego
18/11/2011 10:29 | They also have quite a lot of cash, even after their latest acquisition. And a lot of potential. Quite sorry to see this one go. Steve. | stevemarkus
18/11/2011 10:14 | They have unique technology. Any chance of a rival bid now that the company is in play? | peter27 |
