Not surprised discount bigger. Would expect retailers to be angling for rent reductions moving forward

Probably about right. Net asset value already on. 30% discount anyway.

Results next week. I hope they outline a new strategy. Eg sell the retail park sites.

I don't think they need to do much except wait.

If I buy today at 537 and a bid comes along at 635 if they and other like mind parties have enough shares they force the takeover through.

In the meantime I see the price is nudging up again today. It would be good to see the right side of 550

the most likely event is they will encourage the French to bid again and back them.how the chief executive of hammerson h as retained his job is amazing after turning down bid of 635p.all imo.

Elliott and OZ, shareholdings. What does anyone think will happen, with these activist investors? They are short term investors, will want to see urgent strategies, to unlock value.

The buying today on L2 follows the same pattern as yesterday. More sellers though which is not surprising given the rise.

INTU is going with it so it's hard to figure whether it's a sector thing on the back of recent decent PMI data or whether there is something more going on.

"They" are having much more trouble getting volume on INTU than they are on HMSO

What are all these news items to do with "holdings in the company" ?
The offer has now expired, and they are still hitting the RNS newswire service.

Such a strange stock. Straight through 560 and on one of it's rising fast on very low volume streaks.

I have to believe it will pull back once the volume kicks in but it does kind of suggest there aren't that many sellers out there at this price

For what it's worth I think the whole UK defensive/Brexit related arena has turned up.

The economic figures are not that bad and improving. Unemployment lowest it's been for 15 years, inflation falling and approaching target, Government borrowing coming down faster than expected, GDP disappointing but it is going up. The UK hasn't been the place to invest it due to Brexit but it seems to be turning now.

Today we have more takeovers, Virgin Money and Paragon looking to acquire something too.

I'm sitting tight. Volume remains low but the share price keeps nudging up a little. 560 now. We are in the congestion area where alot of volume went through on the first few days after the bid news. I expect a few will be happy to sell at prices between 560-570 so we need the market to soak them up.

Thanks TRCML. I reckon it says something about the level of conviction of those long. They aren't selling out as it rises as evidenced by the low volume.

The high in the bid period was 575 so whilst as little way to go to that not that far.

I'm really not sure what it going on but it if I had to guess I'd say someone is buying on the basis that sometime in the next 6 months there will be another bid which they will force the Board to put to a vote.

Edit: INTU is just as strange today. It would be flying now but someone is using a really stupid and obvious and aggressive sell bot to sell large volumes in the middle of the day

I've been monitoring the share price all this week. Volume has been comparatively low yet the share price has gradually crept up, making me think a stock shortage. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the share price slipped slightly as if unsure which way to go. As you say, the share price has moved up today: 9p up so far but only on volume 1,896,829 which I reckon confirms stock shortage.

well this is interesting.

HMSO has convincingly moved up above 550 in the last hour for no apparent reason and buyers are still nibbling away.

Simon, the US property group which owns 20% of Klépierre, was reportedly very keen to acquire assets in UK and quite annoyed that Hammerson would not even discuss with Klépierre. There would be, I believe, nothing to prevent Simon putting in a bid themselves without having to wait the six months. Unibail-Rodamco are buying Westfield and Simon would, reportedly, not want to fall behind them in size. All speculation, I agree but, imo, Hammerson are not going to have all the time in the world for their very poor management to screw things up again and deprive shareholders of their due.

Can't argue with that but you cannot just buy 9%. The price has solid support and is likely to steadily move up. A bit of a no brainier if you want to make a steady 2+% return Over the next few weeks.
