10/1/2020 14:50 | Market betting on a cut in dividend imo dyor ofc. | rathean
10/1/2020 14:39 | Sudden large drop in share price Currently 144. Can't see any news | stupmy
10/1/2020 13:12 | Best post in a while Kendo. I’ve been saying it for ages and the diabolical management at the top of Halfords is ruining a great business. Good people are leaving or being replaced or outsourced and the downward spiral continues. Xmas won’t be brilliant and the weather isn’t playing into his hands either. Taxi for Stapleton and co. The sooner the better. | 21ant
10/1/2020 13:12 | well the RSI has taken its predictable turn so final top-up done in a rather volatile market considering the relatively low trading volume! Fingers crossed for results day. | argylerich
10/1/2020 12:38 | Friend of mine works in a Halfords store and they had a very good Christmas period with bike sales up on the year before , hope it’s like that all around the country , you can’t judge it , see what the update brings | casino444
10/1/2020 12:27 | Yump HFD trading update Jan 16th. As you say, it's clearly not expected to be good. Niggle, do you have any info on what it might be? | stupmy
10/1/2020 12:11 | Q3 trading update was today's date last year, so imminent. | yump
10/1/2020 12:09 | Think this drop is because of the reports of a dire Christmas in retail, but afaik there isn't anything HFD sell apart from kid's bikes that's a specific Christmas sale. Now if they had dire bike sales in Springtime... that would be dire... so if consumer confidence hasn't picked up by then... But then again buying a nice bike is not quite the same as buying new shoes, unless people are really reigning in their spending. A lot of bikes are for commuting, which saves a load of money. Sorry, no help at all. | yump
10/1/2020 11:45 | Apart from no rationale for the 100-120 area suggested by Niggle, I thought his/her evaluation of intangibles was a useful focus. I have however held on to my first postition 12.5% of my allocation here. Probably should have let it go. I'm watching for further long entries | stupmy
10/1/2020 11:21 | Looks like current price has priced in any negative reporting. So if there is i think it could fall further?Might get back in pre results day with a short stop! | kendonagasaki

08/1/2020 11:23 | Don't think much of that Goodwill is of value - and if so surely it has further to fall? The market value is less than the intangibles! I don't understand why the shorting stopped in 2019 Goodwill of £253.1m arose on the acquisition of Halfords Holdings Limited by the Company on 31 August 2002 and is allocated to the Retail segment. The goodwill relates to a portfolio of sites within the UK which management monitors on an overall basis as a group of cashgenerating units being Retail. Goodwill of £69.7m arose on the acquisition of Nationwide Autocentres on 17 February 2010 and is allocated to the Car Servicing segment. The goodwill relates to a portfolio of centres within the UK which management monitors on an overall basis as a group of cash-generating units being Car Servicing. Goodwill of £10.7m arose on the acquisition of Boardman Bikes Limited and Boardman International Limited on 4 June 2014 and is allocated to the Retail segment. The goodwill relates to the two Boardman entities which management monitors on an overall basis as part of the Retail cash-generating unit. Goodwill of £9.5m arose on the acquisition of Tredz Limited and Wheelies Direct Limited on 23 May 2016 and is allocated to the Retail segment. The goodwill relates to the two entities which management monitors on an overall basis as part of the Retail cash-generating unit. The goodwill arising on the acquisition of the Nationwide Autocentres is attributable to a) future income to be generated from new retail, fleet customer contracts and related relationships, b) the workforce, c) the value of immaterial other intangible assets, and d) operating synergies. The goodwill on acquisition of the Boardman Bikes is attributable to a) operating synergies and increased control of operations, b) the value of immaterial other intangible assets, and c) future income to be generated from new retail customer contracts and related relationships. The goodwill on acquisition of Tredz and Wheelies is attributable to a) assembled workforce and b) future expansion and growth opportunities. | toffeeman
08/1/2020 11:04 | There's a lot more to servicing a car than the engine (Electric vehicles) and I believe that total eV is currently 1% of the market although there is certainly no room for complacency. | ashbox
08/1/2020 08:55 | Stupmy ...then maybe you should be setting lower stop losses. | niggle
08/1/2020 08:53 | When you see that grey pictorially its nasty ! Wonder where it all came from - as you say niggle - I can’t imagine what they’ve got that that is worth all that. | yump
07/1/2020 18:46 | not sure I understand niggle? | stupmy
07/1/2020 18:27 | stupmy You may well be taken out tomorrow! | niggle
07/1/2020 13:12 | I'll wzait for 158 and then a buy signal I think. I still think we'll see that price and the spread on this one is a painful experience. I have only about 12.5% of my previous position at the current time so have plenty of wriggle room here. | stupmy
07/1/2020 12:11 | Just opened long Stumpy.Stop at 152, expecting volitiity. | kendonagasaki |
