yes nice bit of consolidation. share price tried to move up this morning got to 155p on the offer price before pulled back. not much of a pull back though. looking to tomorrow, i can't see many wanting to sell at 150p day before results. if share price gets above 155p there is a nice gap to fill? i'll check chart later.

A few good late trades today!I think this is the bottom and have took a healthy position earlier today. This should be back into the 180 range very quickly on stable news.Time to buy.

I could do with averaging down, but not until 7th either ! Interesting about the after sales segment increase at Lookers, because HFD are not exposed to new car sales. Used was stable. In some ways HFD would benefit from fewer new cars and higher used car sales for aftermarket service (ie. new cars often go back to dealer for service).

A lot hangs on what's said on the 7th. For me everything else is noise for the moment. I'd say the rapid drop from 178 to 151 suggest that institutional investors are trimming their exposure head of the 7th. That is either simple risk management or the belief that they know what the announcement will say. Doesn't look like good news to me. I won't add anything until the 7th is out of the way.

The full variation of weather starting to unfold and the improving FX should help to turn this ship around over this coming winter.

Interesting point Ashbox. Price action will be interesting here now that this mornings gap down has closed. Let's hope we move up rather than continue down!!

Poor update from Lookers today spooked the auto sector and might have had a bit of a knock-on effect. On a positive note the Lookers profit warning showed the after-sales segment profit was up 2.9% for the comparable period.

Taken a small punt with 3000 shares at 154. Looks oversold although risk of knife dropping further. Should see a recovery to circa 170 in the near term imo dyor ofc.

I had a limit buy at 158. That just triggered so I'm back to where I was as far as position size is concerned, before I sold 75% at 176. I'm looking at the chart, obviously there's a potential support around 155.5-157. I guess my rationale (I didn't write this one down) for the limit at 158 was based on spread and the hope that the support would hold and that it would represent a double bottom, with a prospecive 'W' pattern. We'll see.

177 would already be great. I have restistance around 178-179, after that 191/192 (gap closure), then some serious upside if it were to continue. To infinity and beyond!! Let's hope there's no bad news on the 7th.

SP very close to Lower Bollinger Band. good upside if 177p breaks. who knows maybe before year end. but no bullish trend at the moment.

I'm hovering over the buy button at 160.9. Spread has come right in. Volume remains low, but selling seems to be slowing. Done it, another tranche at 161.1. Maybe a bit early, as I don't have a buy signal, just signs that it might turn.

My limit buy triggered so I've added 30% of what I dropped at 176ish for 163.5. Interim results on the 7th November. Obviously bad news there will make 163.5 look pricey. Management have tried to give us the impression that there should not be any bad news or surprises, but one never knows. I'll be watching now to potentially enter manually the rest of what I dropped. Holding over news is a straight gamble. A change in divi is possible.

that was supposed to read 'now hoping for' not 'not hoping for', price currently down to 166.5 area. I'm actually hoping for it to touch or exceed 161.5. I've set one limit buy (30% of what I sold) at an appropriate level. I'm hoping to be in the office if/when the next buy signal is thrown off, at which time I'd be tempted to replace all of the position that I sold at 176.

I added in the low 160's and today have dumped 3/4 at just over 176. I was able to take a profit and remove a less good entry. That leaves me with a bad entry to resolve. I'm not hoping for the price to dip so I can buy back and try to trade out of what I have left. I still believe that over time price will rise a fair bit from here.

Ok well that's some sold at 177.5 for a reasonably quick profit. Bit nervous about HFDs, but still holding some.

GBP up, HFDs up. Take a while for the exchange rate effect to work, but prices look to the future, or used to.. Add to that, investors moving out of foreign earners and into domestics. Wouldn't rely on it, though, as it all depends on the outcome of Brexit talks, which are far from certain. All the same, impressed how the GBP held up to the close yesterday.

I think we'll see 161.5 or lower soon. For that reason I'll sell what I bought today, I'm reducing a lot of risk for the weekend. I'll be looking to buy back here at 161.5 or less. I assume that this mornings rise was shorts closing or is there some news somewhere?

I regularly buy stuff from Halfords as they match bike part prices. Recently their stock system seems to be all over the place, which has worried me. Perhaps its fallout from the IT being outsourced more. I have some shares from a fair bit higher up, but haven't topped up for the simple reason that I think it would take a surprise big positive to get the share moving, but not much to make them plummet. I guess that could be said for most stocks at the moment, although many have already had bits of bad news or mediocre results, which have caused plummets. Think there will be time to see what the trend is and buy some more when it appears to have settled.
