17/12/2018 08:56 | Bit of a rubbish response to GT winning the SPOTY. Read across from ASOS, I suppose. | poikka

04/11/2018 13:41 | From what I've read, the jury's still out on whether Ashley's going to start selling bikes. | poikka
31/10/2018 08:17 | Oh, I clean forgot, a loss of a competitor - hopefully. | poikka
31/10/2018 08:14 | That's useful, but you're right. Here's a comment- "There is a natural synergy between Evans and Sports Direct," Ms Wehrle says. "He could close some stores, incorporate some Evans into larger Sports Direct stores... Or even take over some larger Evans stores and make them Sports Direct." For me, I'd say that he'll flog off the stock, close some stores, as said, and turn the rest into SD outlets - as said. So the net effect on HFD might be some short term small adverse effect on sales, but there's no sign that he's going to try selling bikes - atm. | poikka
31/10/2018 07:52 | When did Ashley ever come off worse? | toffeeman
30/10/2018 18:42 | So Ashley gets Evans after Halford pulled out last week, and the share price falls even though Ashley's going to have to close half the stores. Competition for HFD, but maybe Ashley comes off worst. Time will tell. Added to LLOYDs and watching HFD. | poikka
28/10/2018 17:44 | Very tempting at these levels, but then I look at the US$ and see its forecast strength as leading to more HFD falls. Hard to predict how the %'s going to behave, but from what I read it'll be mid 2019 before it stops rising. But who knows: will we negotiate a good deal with the EU, or will scaredy pants weaken even further (if that's possible), and who knows what else is around the corner to affect the £. I'd say that they're doing the right things with training and bolting on mini autocentres to the stores. At some stage, in say 10 years time, smaller autocentres will be the way ahead as e-cars gain in numbers. Just as well that our A/Cs are mostly leased then. It's reckoned that the cost of servicing will drop to a third of what it is today. How HFD address that will occupy their minds. It would have been nice if McD hadn't dished out a SD before she left - grrr. Still, they reckon that they can make the necessary investment without incurring more debt - at least, that's how I read it. Haing said all that, it's got that juicy reliable 6% yield, and that's not to be sniffed at while currency fluctuations work through the system. But it is still in a downtrend. Oh dear, what a dilemma. Maybe I'll add some LLOY and watch HFD. | poikka
18/10/2018 09:27 | Well done - I think this has a lot further to fall before it recovers. The key for Halfords is undoubtedly electric bikes and they are in the prime position to capitalise, but seem to be doing a poor job atm. Companies have bike to work schemes where they have tax advantageous programmes and HFD should be operating these on a national basis. I am v gloomy about the market atm | toffeeman
18/10/2018 08:52 | Yes toffee at 3.52 | kendonagasaki

27/9/2018 11:20 | Well 12 month low has breached today. All previous CEO's have invested millions and the the profits still have not come.I suppose with this commitment of 60 million and retained dividend is a small plus. However the retail climate remains on a doward trajectory and for the CEO's sake i hope christmas trading brings him joy. They aim to be level with last year?Only if they trade sucessfully this xmas.No one has mentioned debt restrucuring and investment ref Evans possible purchase either.Looks like this could go much lower yet before any clarity is forthcoming? | kendonagasaki
27/9/2018 10:47 | Actually, presentation was good enough - I previously was referring to the RNS. It's all do-able, as long as they have the individual expertise in management. On balance, I reckon it's been oversold today. | poikka
27/9/2018 09:54 | Let's hope that the execution is more effective than the presentation. Still, better yield than Marcus, lol. | poikka
27/9/2018 09:05 | Loks like £20 million investment has spooked shareholders? | kendonagasaki
27/9/2018 09:04 | 3.53 toffee.Always volitie this one. | kendonagasaki
27/9/2018 08:56 | Odd market reaction, I guess all taken by surprise. This looks on the surface as an astute move for Halford, I like the aggression. Bought in at 314. | rathean |
