10/1/2012 23:00 | interesting. It seems that there was 200k buys today as it was trading inside its spread. With a sudden 14per cent rise the other day and volume starting to pick up ahead of a trading statement i wonder, good news will make it move very fast | arsey
04/1/2012 10:07 | I find the article about auditing standards very interesting. I worked for one of the big 6 then in Canada back in the 70's, and found major audit failures on nearly every job I went on. The ethics of auditors in developing countries are akin to those of bankers - grab fees and the hell with the consequences, and never do the basics - existence ownership and valuation, and any loans secured on those assets. The SEC said that they could not commence investigations into irregularities for at least a year as they had such a back log, so I quit. These failures are also prevalent in established countries, as we have found to our cost (Enron RBS Northern Rock etc). Who audits sovereign states? I would hope that the Chinese creditor banks are privy to management information, and are looking after their (and our) interests. | vatking
04/1/2012 09:45 | If they repeat last years maiden dividend of US$0.043 which is equivalent to UKP0.0275. On a share price of 40p that's a yield of 6.8%, so with the date of any dividend being uncertain, at these prices it's worthwhile accumulating and clipping the coupon. Plus if the trading update is positive there is upside potential to double your investment | vatking

29/11/2011 12:24 | For those who like to have more up to date information on the challenges of the refining business in China, Sinopec is a good guidance to what Haike may achieve. Here's the link Doesn't look very promising does it? This is in line with statement by Haike management in their RNS, so it's all down to the fourth Q to make a profit. | vatking
28/11/2011 16:13 | I still don't understand these accounts. Hi Tech Ruilin contributed RMB4.44M each month 100% or RMB 27M for the first half year. Profit was RMB 462M but approx half was appropriated to MI. Now the approp in respect of HTR is reduced to 25%. What other Joint Ventures are there? We should expect HTR to contribute RMB 15.5M net to the bottom line after MI. Looking at SNP they also had a fairly rugged first half on their refining business making a small loss, so Haike didn't do too badly. | vatking

07/11/2011 17:11 | T O T: In this mkt everyone's punished. I wondered at 40p & accepted the 8.4p for H1 & P/E '11 = 2.5 @ 40p/share on FY eps of 16p was in real terms, only 2B improved on by new capacity, contracted out already, which can only be good. P.S. Looks like that 40p level is going to hold. A positive statement should be a bounce signal. | napoleon 14th
28/10/2011 11:14 | EV vs economic ownership | odvod
27/10/2011 23:23 | It is a fallacy to automatically think that the deleveraging of a geared company creates equity value - the large EV can just come down. Regardless, nothwithstanding the case of a company with high interest costs, the incremental equity return from deleveraging (interest saving less tax) is typically below the cost of equity capital so its is not strictly value creative use of funds (more mitigating the risk of future value destruction). Sure the equity value will reflect deleveraging over time, but it may not be a one for one read through (which is why i would aim off the high earnings yield/FCF yield as a measure of the stock's true value) | zaksab |
