03/3/2016 13:11 | Indeed. I think we had a small miss on earnings forecast according to my numbers. (something like 0.3p EPS). In essence everything looks in line so not much to get excited about. The reduction in debt is fairly impressive and the lack of it means that this is a little cheaper than it might appear on PE ratio calcs. Growth in operating margin has returned although comparison to high gold spot price of years gone past make it look (again) less impressive than itmight at first appear. I struggle to find good "financials" stocks for the portfolio and I quite like this as a long term hold as opposed to an exciting growth stock. | thorpematt
03/3/2016 09:36 | Finals out today | spob
20/1/2016 19:44 | HAT holding up well today. Of course Gold doing well also as we peviously discussed as I recall. | thorpematt

12/1/2016 08:23 | Results as expected I think -i.e. slightly below market expectations ("broadly in line"). Net debt much improved. Very well placed for the future. | topvest

06/1/2016 11:33 | If the 2nd half trading is exactly the same as the previous year then you get over £7m pre-tax for the full year. Before 2009 this was racking up decent profits with minimal gold contribution. | scotches
05/1/2016 12:39 | HAT appeared in Telegraph's Questor col last month. | scotches
04/1/2016 10:39 | I'm looking at that £2 resistance and wondering.... | thorpematt
15/12/2015 08:46 | topvest, You might be on to something there. I have nibbled at these recently, i think we should see some good returns in the mid-term. It's nice and quiet here too, which is a good sign | thorpematt
07/12/2015 09:07 | I've bought some shares in this company. It's performing very well in an adverse gold price environment which is encouraging. Think I was put off before by the high debt and high proportion of profits from selling gold, both of which have been resolved in the last couple of years. | topvest
05/11/2015 14:30 | Gold price might be turning a corner. This extracted from the IC's Coppock indicator commentary today: "...But there was respite on the commodities front, with official buy signals on three of six Goldman Sachs Commodity Indices we track: gold, precious metals and crude oil, adding to the buy signal on agricultural commodities flagged in August. To suggest this marks a definitive turning point for the commodities complex could be premature, though, given the extremely marginal shift upwards in the reading. But Coppock’s recent track record on commodities has been good, registering sells on gold and crude oil in December 2011 and July 2014 before the price of both collapsed." | bruceylegs

18/8/2015 14:40 | With low debt a cash generative business should be able to boost dividends. If they increase the second half payment in line that would imply 8p - ie 4% yield on current share price With the lust to expand gone shareholders might benefit from sustainable increases in future. | scotches
18/8/2015 08:45 | Thanks WJ and probably a valid point Last year they did 4/7.8 and so only one third in 1H which fits with Xmas theory Previous years dominated by gold price moves so a little meaningless. Clearly gold price still having an impact as it gets mentioned quite a lot. Will review post FY ATB - SJ | sailing john
18/8/2015 08:32 | Agree with your view of things Sailing John. I think its a decent company, and has a high stock rank according to Stockopedia. I think they'll undershoot EPS, but not sure by how much. Priced about right for the time being, and will keep it on the watchlist, with a view to buying in on any significant dips. | imranawan
18/8/2015 08:11 | They are H2 weighted because of Christmas. | wjccghcc |
