21/3/2017 08:36 | From Citywire Gym Group is ‘shaping up’, says Peel Hunt Peel Hunt anticipates further upside for Gym Group (GYM), as the business enters a new growth stage. Analyst Douglas Jack retained his ‘buy’ recommendation and target price of 250p on the stock. The shares 3.5p to close 2% higher on Monday at 175.5p after the company reported its first profit in five years. ‘We estimate that the low-cost gym market could expand from 510 sites to 1,140 over the next nine years, without requiring gym market penetration to exceed 15%,’ he said. ‘This target may prove too cautious as, encouragingly, gym market penetration grew from 13.5% to 14.2% in the last year alone. We expect The Gym Group to fully exploit this substantial growth opportunity.’ In the analyst’s opinion three factors could underpin future growth: ‘scope to raise prices; faster expansion; and margin growth as the estate matures’, with the latter providing up to 25% upside to 2019 forecasts. Given there is potential for strong self-financed growth, coupled with an 8% equity free cash flow yield, Jack said Gym Group's shares look attractively priced. | shauney2

Phoenix and Bridges Capital offloaded their remaining stock at 175p per share, which was sold to institutional investors and represented 30.5% of Gym's issued share capital. Does this mean they have given up any hope of a takeover? | aphrodites

13/10/2016 11:27 | i presume this has been sold off in anticipation of the Pure float. that has now been canned. I guess the upside is going to be capped until the Gym overhang is out the way, and ultimately Pure gets done. but it hit £2.80 with all this in the background before. I still think this a cheap solid growth prospect. | oregano
16/9/2016 12:38 | Oregano, I actually think you are right. I'm holding with GYM too, good buying opportunity right now and a better investment in my eyes. sh1984, i'm curious about the IPO offer price too | tflemmings84
16/9/2016 09:49 | VCs are always going to sell down their stake. they have another 30% to go. I have bought more as GYM is performing exceptionally well operationally and it is a better investment than Pure. Investors aren't going to sell GYM to buy Pure. this is a great opp. | oregano
16/9/2016 09:04 | Not good at all, perhaps the impending flotation of Pure Gym has got something to do with it, will make life more difficult now for GYM group, Pure Gym will have cash to invest from the flotation, interested to see what their IPO offer price will be....... | sh1984
15/9/2016 20:53 | Thoughts on the current sell off of 15 million shares by a major shareholder? Sounds like flea tactics to me! Not good! | tflemmings84 |
