24/5/2007 11:11 | Entj, I think you'll find FMR have actually top-sliced a few into the rise. Which makes the share price performance even more impressive. A snippet from the Mail today tells us a bit more about why JPM target 575p: "A JP Morgan recommendation helped Gyrus climb 27p to 515p. The broker says the company enjoys a core position in the US urology and gynaecology keyhole surgery market and is now entering the much larger surgery market." | rivaldo
24/5/2007 10:15 | Nice holding statement too this morning | entj
23/5/2007 15:58 | Nice rise today. Anyone fance a stab at this? | poppa07
23/5/2007 13:20 | "Gyrus Group Plc (GYG LN) climbed 31 pence, or 6.4 percent, to 519. Shares of the U.K. maker of medical devices to reduce the complications of surgery were rated ``overweight'' in new coverage at JPMorgan Chase & Co. ``Taking its highly competitive PlasmaKinetic technology into general surgery opens up a $2 billion market for Gyrus,'' the bank wrote in a research note. " From Bloomberg | grigor
23/5/2007 11:43 | Hi Guys, Nice surprise. It looks like its the JP Morgan tip that has caused this lift rather than anything else. Interesting the reaction some news gets - UBS posted a target of 570p on the 1st May so the consensus is clearly bullish on Gyrus' prospects. Regards, Maddox | maddox
23/5/2007 10:34 | Big jump no news any clues? Sorry didn't see above posts- it's my myopia. | wad collector
23/5/2007 09:31 | Aha :o)) 575p here we come.... "Gyrus May 23rd, 2007 | Market whispers | No comments. JP Morgan likes the medical devices firm, which is actually a mini Smith & Nephew. It has initiated coverage of the stock with an overweight recommendation and 575p a share price target." | rivaldo
23/5/2007 09:29 | Something going on | optimum
23/5/2007 09:11 | Something is obviously brewing here. Watch this space. | gre
23/5/2007 08:58 | Wow wow wow - good share but this is a bit of a surprise today. But possibly not to someone else. | acanthus
23/5/2007 08:53 | Double wow - Must be a bid - Surely | woody33
23/5/2007 08:08 | Wow - sliced through 500p :o)) Any particular reason - news out from the USA perhaps? | rivaldo
21/5/2007 11:12 | Rising inexorably. | rivaldo
03/5/2007 10:46 | New highs again and looking extremely strong. Whilst the markets are decent there's no reason why GYG shouldn't go on and on. | rivaldo
27/4/2007 15:36 | Wad I have never been any good at the short term but well done if it makes you money. | johnroger
26/4/2007 17:00 | You misread my post - I only sold half - I 'm still here either way! | wad collector
26/4/2007 16:00 | See ya Wad, best of luck, Hi Johnroger, Glad to hear you're still with this one - my sentiments exactly. Regards, Maddox | maddox
26/4/2007 15:57 | I expect to buy back soon- I am gambling on it dropping back soon.I am not unhappy with the shares long term prospects but like the excitement of a bit of short term trading, when I suspect there is no "good " reason for a rise.Anyway I 'm a bit heavy in these so won't be too upset if I never get back in. Also the spread is so tight ,that I am already 1% up, even allowing for dealing charges.1% for 2 hours waiting sounds like easy money for me , but I'm holding on. | wad collector
26/4/2007 15:11 | wad collector Why sell a winning share? In my case only if I think I have found a better one, happy to let this one run at the moment. | johnroger
26/4/2007 14:13 | I am gambling on no particular news being the reason and just sold out half at 489.48 .I think this is time to cash in , especially as it just seems to be losing steam as I write.May be wrong but..... | wad collector
26/4/2007 14:09 | Wow - has something happened? Something in the USA maybe (apart from the Dow being at a record of course)? | rivaldo
26/4/2007 13:55 | All time high now and strong volume -those 515 targets look plausible now. Last couple of minutes it is climbing steeply ; automated buy activity? | wad collector
17/4/2007 16:55 | Hi rivaldo, I'm also pleased that we seem to be resisting the Dollar decline far better this time. I only hope that I'm not speaking too early. Regards, Maddox | maddox
17/4/2007 15:24 | Agreed Maddox, give me capital growth any time, both from a personal point of view where these are sat in my ISA CGT-free and from a corporate point of view to enable sustained growth. Back at all-time highs now looking for those 515p or so broker valuations. | rivaldo
04/4/2007 22:43 | Wad, Hummmph, um not sure I actually gave advice, merely gave my own perspective. Anyway, I'm glad its worked out. Yep the Broker's recommendations are curious. I'm often perplexed by the 'buy'recommendation with a target that is one or two per cent ahead of the current share price. I saw one the other day that was a 'buy' and well below the current price? Your comment about valuations in the absence of a dividend is well made. However, I think its a question of whether they can make better use of the money than paying it out in dividends. I'd prefer to have capital growth than taxed dividends - at least in the short term. For example, if Gyrus are placing generators then the more capital they have available to do this the faster growth we will see. REgards, Maddox | maddox |
