with regards to Germany the gaming hit has been reduced from £70m to £30m, so total hit in 2021 will be £70m once Sports profit hit is added. of course these are all pre-mitigations..

GVC has 4 licenses so 4 brands, so you can create an account on each brand and get 4x the limits.

Its based on affordability, "Euro 1K per month standard. 10K per month subject to certain criteria. 30K per month for 1% of customers subject to due diligence."

If a person wants to gamble more than 1K per month and meets the criteria then can gamble 10k per month or even 30k.

GVC doesn't want problem gamblers, with the new rules it will help prevent the small minority of people gambling beyond their means but if you want to gamble more and can afford to do so then you still can.

An open question...if German igaming(online gambling) hit is 70m and the four sports book Lic a 40m hit in 2021...then similar legislation in UK..is going to be 126m and 72m respectively..(UK 36%/Germany 20%)...almost 300m in all..almost 50% of guidance for 2020..no one else selling out?

Coxsmn, no they can’t. It’s a 1 month wagering limit. Once you’ve bet €1k in a month you’re done. You would be correct if it was a deposit limit.

If a punter places two 500 bets the first day and they both win then the person can still gamble the winnings i.e. the money in their wallet.

White House - for poker and slots it’s a deposit limit but GVC are correct that it’s a staking limit, that’s why the £40m hit is bigger than expected. I expect they’ll be working hard to get the €10k limit in place for most customers as soon as possible.

Good points, and not long to wait to see what the effect of more restrictions will be.

Our weaker share price today is more to do with the expected Northern lockdown whereby our shops maybe temporarily closed again -which will just encourage more people to set up online accounts & the marginal effect will be minimal

Not sure it is my place to query wording of an RNS but the wagering limit of 1,000 a month I thought was a deposit limit of 1,000 euros a month. A lot of punters could have a couple of 500 euro bets on the first weekend. Suppose they both win do they have to sit on their hands for 4 weeks just to have another bet with thousands in credit and showing they are not exactly vulnerable and needing protection

The RNS is a positive update. The impact of regulation in Germany is a reduction of EBITDA of £40m - it had announced the expected impact to be £70m. So £30m more profit than previously expected.

However, the bigger plus is that their German operations are now in a regulated market and this ends this long, long, standing area of uncertainty. For a long term holder like me it is wonderful to finally draw a line under this issue.

If Germany were to account for 20% of Online NGR on say 700m EBITDA...and GVC are guiding to 110m Hit...they must be making way more in Germany than the numbers would suggest, or they are being way overcautious as to the hit...

If I have the facts correct, this RNS states that the estimated annual cost will be £40 million which is down from the £60 million they mentioned when these new regulations were announced a short time ago.

Just done a news check on Kenny Alexander, now aged 51, but found nothing subsequent to leaving GVC.
