what about online casinos/gaming in the USA (i.e. online casino games, particularly slots) - the new ruling will or won't have an impact?

I just think that in this market any bad news sees a disproportionate mark down and/or sell off. As Kenny has commented the only implication is on poker. But even then only on liquidity sharing across state borders. Inter state poker will be unaffected, as will inter state sports and casino.

Overall a very encouraging trading update, again. Kenny and team keep delivering. At some point the market will wait up to that fact, meanwhile the rest of us can look forward to dividends approaching 5% yield and a high growth company.

Oh don't worry I've taken plenty of losses in my time and I'm only early 30's so lots of time for me to get stung gong forward :) I also sold a huge -for me- tranche of shares when it sunk to £4 (or less- I try not to think about it- I panicked basically) on the bwin acquisition only for it to ping upwards massively, which was very distressing, so it's not been all sunshine and rainbows for me either. That was a massive lesson too. For me it is all about ignoring analysing every move and focusing on a longer term trend, it's the only way to spare your sanity... especially in this horrible market. The fundamentals here are good, the trading update was as good as we could have hoped for. Just sit back and give it time - you haven't lost a penny yet in the same way people who brag about their million pound house or portfolio don't have anything until it's cash in the bank.

Warren Buffett would have been so proud of Sam & Gorilla.

It's easy to say any damn thing if you bought 1 portfolio at £1 which is up by more 000s and another down by much less 000s as your investment with a £1 a share buy you more.

I have no doubt about fundamentals here it just annoys me that I bought too high probably at the wrong time.

I dont wish to compare how much I have lost etc but sometimes we are just here to take our frustrations out rather than been told if you can't handle go sell etc.

This stock is heavily linked with stupid Ftse100 on any other day this would and should be flying but like my Warren Buffett's here say fundamentals are strong however most investment banks analysts they have reduced the target price down which means something.

Dividend will be 16p (£560) in the second quarter so that's pennies if I compare to my loss plus the share price will be down the following day that's ex dividend date by the same value.

Any ways we will see what happens tomorrow maybe the MMs may realise that the RNS issued today was good news like last week with CVRs.

Those that are fretting so much over being down in a co. That keeps delivering excellent results like this shouldn't be investing in individual shares at all in my opinion. Either the risk does not sit with those people well or they can't afford to lose the money. There are plenty of funds out there that will manage out the risk and worry for you with a mixed basket of individual investments. Sometimes true value isn't always reflected in the days, weeks, months after you buy but takes years - esp. in this kind of market, but it will get there. I hold 2 portfolios of these - 1 from the £1 days and one with an average of £7.80-ish. I am not worried in the slightest that the £7.8-ish one is a few (well a lot) of £K down right now. Time and patience is what is needed.

Most of here have bought there's years ago so they are still sitting on a tidy profit so easy to say if you cant deal with it sell up and go....dont take it to heart. They are not related to you or anybody and they will never understand your situation as they havent face that yet.

If this stock would have gone to 423 instead of 623 some of them would be p in their pants if any but just ignore.

There has been a write up on IG and the stock is moving up at the point of writing 695 just enjoy until it last.

Do you use technical indicators or just price to buy or sell?

Gambling firm GVC Holdings said it expects 2018 earnings to be ahead of market consensus after finishing the year on a strong note.

In the fourth quarter, online net gaming revenue grew 15% while UK retail like-for-like sales were down 3%. Total sales for the quarter grew 5%. For 2018 as a whole, total net gaming revenue was up 9%, with online up 19%.

"The group's performance in 2018 has been excellent with the strong momentum reported at Q3 continuing into Q4. We are materially outperforming the market and taking share in all of our major territories," commented Chief Executive Kenneth Alexander.

GVC said it expects proforma underlying earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation for 2018 ahead of expectations at between GBP750 million to GBP755 million.

George Salmon, equity analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown, said that amidst major regulatory changes in the UK and US, the update had provided “a timely reminder of GVC’s credentials”.

“Market share is rising in all major geographies, and a better than expected fourth quarter means profit forecasts have been upgraded. With the news coming not long after GVC also raised forecasts for cost-saving around the Ladbrokes Coral integration, there’s a lot to like about how the group is performing.”

Salmon added that the performance would raise hopes that GVC could “repeat the trick” in the recently opened up US market, although uncertainty in the UK market meant investor sentiment remained “reasonably cautious”.

Erm... no it doesn't. There are plenty of articles describing what the ruling (disputed) means. It may affect Poker badly but sports betting - hardly at all...

It's a pretty standard market reaction to decent news- open high, catch out inexperienced over excited buyers then drop the price. I wouldn't be surprised if it finishes flat or even down today.Seems to be some nervous investors on here at the moment. Just check your research, if it still seems like a good medium to long term investment then stick with it. If you're sitting on more of a loss than you're comfortable with then sell up and move on. Basic stuff really.Personally as long as the dividend is still in place and there's no sign of it being cut and the management remains in place then I'm pretty happy.
