08/10/2018 16:10 | I bought back in on Friday and had thought about selling and taking a small profit on on a bit of day trading, however got distracted and missed my opportunity. There was suggestion on Friday that there was a further 3% fall, however I consoled myself with actually once the storm passes, these will be flying at high alitute again. Cross with myself, but a very wise investor once told me you should always leave a little bit for someone else. | hubshank
08/10/2018 16:06 | ....and what's more, the short term indicators seem to have had a change of heart! :-( Look on the bright side, long term ones look positive | hubshank
08/10/2018 16:04 | LOL. I do not own a cannon! :-D | hubshank
08/10/2018 15:55 | Hs I didn't realise you had a hatch on the front of your trousers. I guess I mount a smaller caliber cannon than you. | fizzypop
08/10/2018 15:17 | Oversold. All indicators are slowly switching to oversold. Hopefully just a question of button down the hatches and wait for the storm to pass. | hubshank
08/10/2018 14:57 | ...now beginning to think that gap at 8.00 may fill ! | redips2
08/10/2018 14:34 | 893p? To say I'm shocked is an understatement. This was always the share that downturns couldn't touch. | festario
08/10/2018 14:21 | Most of the stocks I'm currently holding are well down from their highs, which is why I'm holding and buying. I'm sure you're right about a general market sell-off - another reason why I'm currently buying - I am a dyed-in-the-wool contrarian by nature. This has enabled me to triple my portfolio in four years. There are some great yields available at current share prices. GVC is NOT one of the better ones as regards current divi levels, so I'm primarily here for the capital gains and the trading opportunities as I've done so well with this company in the past. | woodhawk
08/10/2018 13:49 | Woodhawk, my tongue in cheek sense of humour, I'm afraid. Interestingly there are only two shorters listed with holdings above 0.5%, totalling 1.34%. So, IMO, the fall is not being driven by shorting, more like a general sell-off in the market. Take a look at PLUS500 down from over £20 to £12.75 in two months, PTEC down from 750p to 460p in three months, JPJ down form £10 to 720p in two months and PPB down from 8,100 to 6,500 in two months. | mylands
08/10/2018 13:26 | I don't think retail investors like us have much effect, mylands. In any event, I'm currently much happier with my GVC position than I have been for a long time - all bought out of previous profits at an average near the current low. I hope to do a nice 50% by sometime next year plus any divis along the way (and hopefully some gainful trading in the process too). | woodhawk
08/10/2018 13:12 | Woodhawk we need many, many more like you to halt this slide! | mylands
08/10/2018 13:09 | Couldn't resist - had to have some more. My last top up will be at my original pessimistic target of 875p, if it goes that low. | woodhawk
08/10/2018 12:54 | If it's any consolation us small-time investors aren't suffering as much as Capital Group who, in the last month, have seen the value of their 64 million shares decline by £176 million! On the plus side, don't forget those of us who held our stock before it went ex div will be getting 16p on the 25th October. So the current price is actually 916p! | mylands
08/10/2018 12:43 | Hope Kenny hasn't made his penny and is now selling out his shareholders! It will have to bottom eventually. Good news is that last year this forecast was achieved within just over a month of first being made... 08/10/2018 11:33 | Looks like I'll be buying some even cheaper than my last purchase at 912p! | woodhawk
08/10/2018 08:29 | Leading bookie calls for ban on TV gambling ads before watershed - The boss of one of the UK's biggest bookmakers will this week call for a ban on gambling adverts being shown before the 9pm watershed. Kenny Alexander, chief executive of Ladbrokes and Coral owner GVC, told City A.M. the number of ads appearing during football games had got "out of hand" as he called for the rest of the industry to follow suit in tightening up gambling regulations. Horseracing would be excluded from the ban. "Most people in the gambling industry think there are far too many ads," Alexander said. "We should make the changes collaboratively with the rest of the industry, which might be difficult, and ultimately it’s up to the government to decide if they want to legislate or not."... | speedsgh
08/10/2018 08:23 | 50% market share is mentioned during the QA at the end of the results presentation webcast. GVC with 50% of the profits. | coxsmn
06/10/2018 01:55 | Several banks are now launching apps which have helped tens of thousands of problem gamblers stop their addiction.Great news on a human level, but terrible news for betting companies.I wonder if this development has started to affect bookies share prices? Story is here....https://www. | festario
05/10/2018 18:41 | Gvc now showing as a buy on the hourly data on investing.com with an RSI of 49. That has changed from a strong sell. Monthly still showing an RSI of 55 (buy) | kexicus
04/10/2018 19:11 | coxs - GVC themselves were only talking about 10% market share. | loganair
04/10/2018 19:04 | Well timed buy Wood. We can look forward to gvc commanding 50% market share of the US sportsbetting market in years to come. | coxsmn
04/10/2018 14:23 | My biggest gains in GVC were after buying during the 2016-Jan 2017 fall (very reminiscent of that period now, imo) and building up £250K invested in GVC then. I'll probably never take that much risk here again, but been building up nicely over the past few days. | woodhawk
04/10/2018 14:19 | Woodhawk 'Brave' man? | mylands
04/10/2018 13:53 | 1) Yes, of course 2) Who knows In the meantime, I just bought a few more at 912p. | woodhawk |
