That would be an incredibly draconian double whammy for bookmakers - take away a major source of profits then tax the rest to make up for the shortfall. Surely a Tory govt. would never do that. Oh, er, hang on a minute....

That is what I said yesterday.

All

If they are big gamblers in the shop they will surely
just bet more elsewhere ie horses or football.
Maybe the adult gaming centres will bring something
in for them to bet bigger on other things.

I still reckon £10, myself.

Take a look at the Edison research note just published and the link posted a couple of days ago by Coppertrader. This will answer all your questions on UK exposure.

I suspect the real question for GVC is whether there will also be a new tax element on gambling to make up the large tax shortfall if the £2 FOBT limit is imposed?

GVC & Ladbrooks are international co's surely the revenue from the UK is just
a small fraction of total?

But The Times leak of info, could be wrong, and it was just done to get the SP,s of Betting Co,s down.Until it is announced offically by the Government. We wait and see !

Yes and no.

The price paid for LCL was based on a nil additional payment as a result of the FOBT review, ie a £2 max stake, but the hope was/is that the review would result in a £10 or more stake resulting in the FOBTs remaining a significant profit centre, hence the additional payment GVC would make to LCL shareholders. Removing that profitability going forward will IMO impact on market sentiment, in the short/medium term.

So the net result ought to be neutral for GVC then?
woodhawk

That’s correct but the counter argument is that the shops, where the fobt’s are located, will take a big hit on profitability.

I note has part of the LCL deal that if a £2 FOBT limit, then the former LCL shareholders receive nothing on that basis, which should be good for the GVC share price ?

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if they had 'leaked' this to the press, or using POTUS's favourite phrase when talking about the media - FAKE NEWS!

One hell of a lot of shares traded today and it's only just 1pm - 8.2 million.

As always the market over reacts, but if the FOBT limit is set at £10, which I have always thought was the most likely, will it recover to the 970's as fast as it has fallen to the 890's?

Fizzy,

I just topped up on IMB - at current price the yield is circa 7.85%. Nice fat quarterly payments whilst you await share price recovery too.
