15/7/2017 17:53 | I have been invested here for a very long time and my holding is at no cost. I may add, yet sanity tells me "only buy more should Western markets take a tumble". On a serious drop everything suffers including PM's (initially) | rhuvaal2
15/7/2017 14:37 | The situation in Turkey may well be priced in, but it wouldn't stop the price getting hammered, by more than 10% easily, if a negative RNS came out on the subject. So, instead, let GVC manage the situation and absorb any turbulence that the Superbahis disruption could potentially cause. I say 'potentially' because gambling is a resilient vice and gamblers tend to find a way. After all, any downturn in one part of the business doesn't need to be announced separately, in the same way as GVC don't crow about opening up gaming brands in Russia. That's the beauty of this management team, they simply get on with it and grow the bottom line.Fest. | festario
15/7/2017 10:44 | Hi brownie, Yes absolutely 100% - the dodgy info doesn't have to be anything of much substance. The normal trading of a particular share cannot absorb a concerted shorting attack, then if enough potential buyers hesitate due to a scare story the share price drop is inevitable. Slam dunk. >> GaryCook - thank you for your kind words - it is great to be on a good with such good contributors. Regards, Maddox | maddox
15/7/2017 09:19 | Maddox, fair enough re market cap. But I still think that PI's are more easily scared out of a stock by the actions of shoters spreading false and misleading info. Berberic, GVC own and operate superbahis.com one of the leading brands in Turkey. they have a couple of other smallers ones as well I think. | brownie69
15/7/2017 04:45 | Added more yesterday. But good post from Brownie, and Maddox. This is such a good thread with knowledgeable posters, compared to other threads here on ADVFN.One of the best I would state in 24 Shares I own.And GVC one of the best run companies. | garycook
14/7/2017 19:48 | Hi brownie, Thanks, never considered you a shorter for a second - far too well informed. It seems clear already that the Bwin integration has been a big success and the Turkish protectionist action can only be marginal even if more effective than has previously been the case (Festario's point). However, I'm not persuaded by your market cap v shorters point though, as the example I referred to, Paysafe (PAYS), had a £2bn market cap. IMHO the defining point for GVC's valuation will be when the free cash flow becomes apparent and thus the dividend stream derived. Regards, Maddox | maddox
14/7/2017 17:25 | Erdogan's clampdown is on illegal gambling. I do not understand why GVC is even mentioned in the same article when it's in no way related to any illegal gambling sites. Scaremongering by shorters IMHO. | berberic
14/7/2017 17:00 | This is for real this time. Here is a respected industry source. FYI I work as a supplier to online gambling (not GVC) and one of my clients had their Turkish site blocked 6 times in 7 days , last week. Previously been 2 or 3 times a month. BTW I'm not some johnny come lately shorter, I'm long GVC and been posting positivly on the sector and this company for years. This is for real in my humble opinion. The scummy create a false scare story brigade dont usually attach companies worth more than £2bn who have institutional shareholders of substance. they like smaller companies where the shareholder register is dominated by private investors who are much more easily scared out of their shareholding. Also been reported in The Times. The real question for me is what is fair value. I think we are close to a definining moment for GVC. Post the summer we will know if the Bwin tech integration has been successful, and whether the Turkish action has materially affected cash flow. If not I think we have clear water to 900p+ . Then KA will use the balance sheet to make his next acquisition. If Turkey acts as a drag then I would expect him to unload as he did way back when Italy was behaving like the problem step child. In those circumstances I'm not expecting a decent multiple, but even if given away I cant see the share price falling much because the bad (Turkish) news already seems to be in the price. | brownie69
13/7/2017 22:42 | Hi Festario, Agreed. However, I'm interested in finding the substance to this story if there is anything apart from what we already know. There have been a number of dodgy dossier type stories that have clearly turned out to be IMHO market manipulation and I'd like to know whether this is a real issue or a scare story. Paysafe (PAYS) had one Dec 2016 - 'Spotlight Research Report' which was a complete fabrication - but if you got on the other side of the shorting as I did you made c. 50% in three months as the share price recovered. If this is an old story re-hashed then it's another opportunity to get on the other side of the shorters, with an assured profit in view. Regards Maddox | maddox
13/7/2017 21:00 | I like Cats Whiskas, such a well detailed and well argued case!!! | brownie69
13/7/2017 16:38 | Sweet intra day reversal, like so many on this great share. | festario
13/7/2017 14:34 | Interesting reading on US online gaming and land based casinos. Report available. hxxp://totallygaming | trentendboy
13/7/2017 13:07 | I have a large amount of funds available, I'm keeping it dry for gvc, 888 and cey, adding to cey in the coming weeks, then in August addinging to gvc and 888. | shayadfn
13/7/2017 13:01 | Maddox. Brownie, et al, I've been thinking about this Turkish crackdown. If they were successful in stopping 50% of gambling, (which I think is an impossible target), then they could knock approx 6% off of GVC's net revenue. But given that we are growing by over 10% a year, even in a year without major sporting events, then this has to be seen as merely a blip in the upward progress of GVC.If I had available funds, I'd be buying more now, targeting 1000p per share. | festario
13/7/2017 12:43 | Hi Caithnessy, Please post the source URL of your quote regarding the Turkish crackdown (post 26795). Regards Maddox | maddox
13/7/2017 12:21 | As there's no company specific news until Sept. the shorters feel safe in taking the share price down, I'm waiting to see how far they can bring it down, then adding as we near September trading update, same with 888. | shayadfn
13/7/2017 11:39 | Shorts looking for 735 this pm | catswhiskas
13/7/2017 10:10 | Re post 26785 I think many on here know I am close to the sector and FYI I remain long GVC. But not looking to add ATM. Here is why. In fact this time its more than rhetoric, the Turkish government have started a much more rigorous process of blocking. Before it was occassional and the operators just rolled over to a new web address. This time its different, they are blocking at least every day and even more than once a day. What this does is stop the "new" web addresses of registering with the search engines, this usually takes a couple of days. Its also having an impact on the customers, basically it seems to be scaring them from what I am hearing. There are also indictments out on payment providers. So why am I not selling. Well GVC is cheap compared to peers. Less Turkish business is good in the long run and I am assuming that GVC will market other mmarkets harder to make up the shortfall. | brownie69
13/7/2017 10:01 | The decline is pretty general and irrational - not comparable companies of course - but picked up bargains in PTSG and IDEA last couple of days. Agree with Woody the offering today is the bargain of the year but I am very fully invested in GVC and now out of groats. | fizzypop
13/7/2017 09:52 | I dont understand the reason behind the decline...unless the market thinks this years results wont be that great due to the lack of any major sporting events. | nurdin
13/7/2017 08:37 | Who would have predicted back at the end of May when we hit 820p that within two months we would be down by to below 750p? The unpredictability of the stock market! | mylands
12/7/2017 21:56 | Next leg up coming soon now - the sale is almost over. I reckon this will prove to be the best buying opportunity before 2018 and 1000p (33% gain from here, plus divis) - just like the dip six months ago proved to be a huge buying opp for the faithful. | woodhawk
12/7/2017 19:43 | I couldn't have penned a better response myself! | festario
