I agree Highlander. This process will take time and will be extremely complex although it sounds like the most important things have been agreed in principle. I've not ever been involved in negotiating oil contracts but there is nothing too complex to deal with such as intellectual property etc. The noises coming out from all sides (icg, krg, apikur, us, turkey and even the Russians are getting involved) sounds like this will happen in the near term. However, the elephant in the room is the non buyback. What happens after Dec? We will be getting an operational update from gkp in Dec. Does anyone know when this is? Hopefully we will have some clarity before then but I suspect this might drag into Jan/Feb. GLA

I dont think the ICG are deliberately delaying the Contract.

The fact is that contracts are concise and specific legal documents that have to be reviewed and checked by the Lawyers of both sides.

This takes time because there will almost certainly be changes requested by either side. Patience is needed.

GKP are in a solid and profitable place at the moment.

The progress for a new contract with the ICG/SOMO is once again being slow walked almost to a stop. Lots of misinformation and nonsense still being pumped out. The budget amendment to $16 per barrel was supposed to go through Parliament for the first and second reading last Sunday and Monday as reported by Kurdistan 24 around the 11th Nov. ( posted by beernut )

As for a new contract, with all the details and complexities needed to be acceptable to APIKUR, and on a par with current contracts, I think we are looking at a minimum of several months at least before that happens.

The ITP contract ends in around September 2025 so a new contract via Turkey/KRG/APIKUR companies could be on the table.

May be better to wait until the ITP contract renews.


Time to sit back and wait, nothing to be excited about yet.
GKP is solid and profitable as we are.

Listen,for gods sake..., this is stage managed stabilisation.......If bad actors do what they would always attempt to do prior to a premium takeover , let alone such a high premium one, ie crash the share price Someone here must have L2....Where and in what size are PH and CG sat on the book.Their mere positioning controls the price range,even if they don't buy any.

US Business Delegation visits Kurdistan Region: 21st November 2024 in Iraq Industry & Trade News

KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani recently received a delegation from the United States-Kurdistan Business Council (USKBC), led by its President, David Tafuri.

The KRG said in a statement:

"David Tafuri congratulated the Kurdistan Region for holding a successful and democratic parliamentary elections last month. He reiterated the USKBC mission to support and promote greater American investment in the Kurdistan Region He also highlighted the Kurdistan Region's strategic importance in Iraq and the wider Middle East.

"They also discussed developments in the region, including Erbil-Baghdad relations. Prime Minister Barzani outlined the Kurdistan Regional Government's reforms agenda, particularly the digitalization of public services and advancements in the banking system through the MyAccount project. The Prime Minister emphasized the KRG's commitment to facilitating investment and creating a business-friendly environment for investors.

"The Prime Minister also addressed the need to restart oil exports from the Kurdistan Region, underlining the significant financial losses to Iraq's national budget due to its halt."
