"No test results yet on SH-5 & 6 which were thought to be on the flanks, but they do look to have exceeded expectations by miles, quite literally, with the flanks having now been moved out by miles as a consequence giving a much greater oil field areal extent. Shaikan-5 Appraisal Well
Preliminary well logs indicate a continuous oil column in the Jurassic and hydrocarbon presence in the Triassic Kurre Chine-A and Kurre Chine-B, which is consistent with results obtained elsewhere in the field, most recently with the Shaikan-4 appraisal well.

Shaikan-6 Appraisal Well
A preliminary evaluation of the comprehensive logging suite indicates a continuous oil column in the Jurassic Barsarin, Sargelu, Alan and Mus formations and extending into the Butmah formation. Well logs from the Triassic indicate the hydrocarbon presence in both the Kurre Chine-A and Kurre Chine-B formations.

An interesting post below from 2016 which gives two examples of volumetrics for the Jurassic at Shaikan.
Firstly an example from Bob assuming an area of 200 km2 and then one from me assuming an area of 125 km2.

From the information released it appears the average net pay in the Jurassic would be around 250m.

Note this is just the Jurassic.
The lighter oil in the Triassic and and then the Permian are yet to be evaluated.

Newer members of this thread would do well to read and absorb these numbers to help themselves understand why Shaikan is an extremely valuable Super Giant Oilfield, still only in the early stages of development.

300 metres average net pay = 45 billion barrels OIP
500 metres average net pay = 75 billion barrels OIP

Volumetrics
Assuming 125 km2 of reservoir
Assuming 12% average porosity
Then:

100 metres average net pay = 9.4 billion barrels OIP

200 metres average net pay = 18.8 billion barrels OIP

300 metres average net pay = 28.2 billion barrels OIP

------------------------------------------

12% porosity x 6.29 Bls /cubic metre x cubic metres x net pay
Break down into %age interest etc
To allow for oil in vugs, ie non accessible/locked in, take 2-3% off the 12% porosity --- See Great Swami post on the subject on Dalesmann.com

Good, a message to Iran. It looks like the letters sent by senators and congressmen to the Biden Administration urging them to re-engage in Iraq have born fruit.

The Americans have been holding off inflaming relations with Iran because they gave a higher priority to securing a nuclear deal, hopes for that deal have now faded.

£8 would have given a mcap of about 7bn quid Over 30 quid now.I'd expect far higher post Putin ,....It is thought that the board would not accept the estimated £8-a-share that Exxon is considering and that a number of other companies, perhaps including China's Sinopec and Californian giant Chevron, are monitoring the situation. There is even some speculation that an informal four-way auction for GKP might be under way, while it is also believed that the company has spoken to at least two smaller businesses about potentially developing its assets in a joint venture..
