Bloomberg..

OPEC+ and its allies agreed on Wednesday to reduce their collective output by 2 million barrels a day in a bid to keep oil prices high. The move was defended by ministers from the producers group as necessary to protect the oil industry and their own economies from the risk of a global slowdown. The White House slammed the decision and indicated it would respond. Brent crude, the international benchmark, jumped as much as 2.4% to a two-week high of $93.96 a barrel. Meanwhile Russia, which has been holding access to natural gas over the heads of European nations, resumed shipments to Italy via Austria.

What with Oilgarchs buying farm land , they will decide what we eat , meat will be off the menu , insects on see vid below. They know how mankind declined post meat eating hunter gather phase ( see excellent lecture below ) enslaved to farm land humanity's health declined. We have been conned into eating cereals.

Yes I heard that also.

The great reset apparently. The only reset is going to be when we get rid of this shower of useless politicians in ALL party's. Its already happening all over Europe.

Voters have had enough.

Ill be making a donation to REFORMUK - quite soon ...I hope!

LOL

@Pete and Jock7, ahh, the WEF (Klaus Schwab) has already got that covered. Not everyone is going to be able to own a car going forward. Remember his mantra, "you will own nothing and be happy".
I hear a white cat purring .... (James Bond reference)

Highlander. I was being sarcastic. My article was a bit vague so I have made it clearer.
Our grid can hardly cope as it is and if sales of electric cars continue at pace then the grid will never cope, not a hope in hell.
But no one in power will admit to this.

Ukraine, in turn, is also among the most richly endowed European countries when it comes to rare earth metals and lithium reserves, with estimates of the value of these deposits ranging from $3 trillion-$11.5 trillion. In 2021, the European Union signed a strategic partnership on raw materials with Ukraine, which generated a surge in interest from private companies. Given Ukraine's vast mineral resources, combined with Russia's own ambitions to bolster its market influence over this space, some experts have questioned to what degree Russia's current aggression against its southwestern neighbor may have been driven by a desire to lay claim to those Ukrainian reserves. In this context, Russia's incursions into the southern and eastern regions of Ukraine may not be motivated solely by military calculations, considering that most of Ukraine's critical materials reserves are located there. Similar reasons were likely at least partly behind the annexation of Crimea in 2014, when Russian military actions also notably targeted Ukrainian natural gas reserves off the coast of the peninsula (totaling up to 13 trillion cubic meters)

So how will we charge 25 million electric cars in the future Pete? and where is all the Lithium coming from now ? It used to come from Russia/China.

Your comments are fantasy. Its the RATE of charging that is the main issue. EV's have to be charged in ~ 10 mins or so to make them viable. Think of it as water flow through a 1 mile Diameter garden hose. We will need massive Nuclear / Gas capacity by 2050. Which is possible. But not in the next 15 years or so.

There is no problem with electric supply in uk, now we have our green electric cars. Being sarcastic!
An electric car only takes about 50 times more electricity than boiling your kettle, depending on the size of the battery and how much one uses their car.. So the grid will need to double or tripple its capacity.

Change is coming.

Biden is toast in the USA. Trump is making a comeback in 2024 and the Republicans will be back in control next month. They think Climate Change is being exploited by extremists ( as it is )

Here in the UK it provisionally looks like we MAY has a PM with the guts and brains to finally sort this country out.

But in any case Global Energy Policy has changed. All of them now see we need Oil and Gas for a few decades yet while we make the change. It takes 5 years (at least) to build and commission new large Nuclear Power Stations. Each gives us~ 6% of current UK energy supply.

They are converting gas powered electricity generation to use fuel oil

Where do we get our Oil from in the meantime? Now that the EU is stopping ALL Russian oil imports in December and a proportion of UK oil also comes from Russia.

The game is on.

I was in Addax.I remember it well.

With Brent set to be back above $90/$100 for the foreseeable,GKP will be throwing off massive FCF V Current Mcktcap.Add in any production increase and the figures become crazy.

Let's see how much longer we last as an independent oil co.Not much longer imo.

Happy dividend day for tomorrow.

With the US wishing to control the flow of gas and oil to Europe, hence the Nordstream debacle, would it want the Chinese access to Kurdistan? To my numpty, Shepherds Bush brain, probably not.
This leads me to only one conclusion, a bidding war.
