Iran may eventually get its way in protracted power struggle in Iraq
(Martin Chulov July 28)

....."There are instead many indicators to suggest that after a debilitating, attritional campaign, Iran will eventually get its way, consolidating control over key areas of a feeble state and dictating terms on an unprecedented scale.

In Erbil, where rockets fired by Iranian proxies – as recently as Tuesday night – have caused disruption and uncertainty, leaders are slowly shifting their positions on what comes next.

The semi-autonomous Kurdistan region had backed the bloc of the influential Iraqi cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, who wishes to restrict Iran’s power in the country. In post-election horse trading, Sadr hoped to form a government in the 329-seat parliament alongside Sunni parties.

But as attempts to name a president – the first step in the process – failed, the Kurdish region’s prime minister, Masrour Barzani, began to moot a new decentralised confederation model that would bleed power from Baghdad and give Kurds and other ethno-sectarian constituencies more power over their own affairs.

Barzani told the London-headquartered thinktank Chatham House in April that confederation could be a solution for all Iraqis. His remarks were a pointed break from the buy-in to a central model in which Washington has, until recently, remained invested since the US military ousted Saddam Hussein nearly 20 years ago."

EIA data causing an end of day splurge down........all very manipulated now......you will get build, then build, then sudden drop.......all to manage the oil price and stop it rising too much.

And all the time, they are emptying the SPR......... but that stops October as there is no political gain contining in November as mid term elections will be done by then, so gas prices will be allowed to rise to real "market" levels.

In energy markets, OPEC and its main allies, together known as OPEC+, revised their combined output quotas for September higher, but by far less than in the previous month.Producer nations agreed on a 100,000 barrels-per-day hike in their quotas for the month, following the 648,000-barrel daily increase decided on for August.Brent crude futures slipped in response, however, possibly as some analysts had been anticipating that the cartel would be unable to continue raising its quotas at the same pace as earlier in the year due to a lack of spare capacity in most member countries

"Why don't you try and do something meaningful about this issue Bigdog, as you are clearly obsessed with showing everyone the real truth. But instead of doing this, you decide to post online and ridicule shareholders"?

I'm not a share holder and why should I wish to.

Makes a load of sense. I'm not a shareholder. Why would I want/need to do anything "meaningful" to use your word.

Bigdog - "Tell me again how the 8 years in the planning 55k a day was going to be "fast easy and cheap". I was almost a lone voice here that said that wasn't possible. But then again I knew all about the "issues" the field was having."

Absolutely clueless.

The only person that has ever used the term "fast easy and cheap" Sarah is YOU.

And the only "ISSUE" has only EVER been MONEY.

Statement from the MNR 3rd August 2015:- "Crude oil export is the principal revenue earner for the Kurdistan Region. But, it is also recognized that it is difficult for the IOCs to sustain oil export at its current levels, let alone increase it as planned, without receiving their financial dues".

The company was warning you in great detail and at regular intervals for years why the implementation of the plan wasn't going to be "fast easy and cheap" as you put it, but because you're as thick as two short planks it all went straight over your head and even now you STILL can't grasp it:-

August 14 - "Outlook - conclude discussions with the MNR on the establishment of a regular and predictable payment cycle for past and future Shaikan crude oil export sales in order to generate steady revenues, which is of critical importance to Gulf Keystone's funding position."

Oct 14 - "Receiving steady revenues from our domestic sales is positive as we continue our discussions with the MNR regarding a stable payment cycle for past and future export sales."

Feb 15 - "Export crude oil deliveries by truck have been suspended. This is expected to be a short term measure until a regular payment cycle can be established."

Feb 15 - Strategic Update - "Gulf Keystone, the operator of the world class Shaikan field in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, is announcing today that it has recently engaged in discussions with a number of parties in relation to possible asset transactions or a sale of the Company."

March 15 - "This successful Placing will strengthen the Company's financial position while discussions with interested parties in relation to possible asset transactions or a sale of the Company and the Board's assessment of a number of longer-term funding options to progress to the next Shaikan production target of up to 70,000 barrels of oil per day are ongoing."

August 15 - "The KRG also recognizes the patience of the producing IOCs, which, despite receiving hardly any payments for their crude oil production since May 2014, have maintained operations and have continued to invest to support Kurdistan's crude oil export."

And on it goes, with the company heading for liquidation resulting in the restructuring the following year.

But YOU Sarah, think that during all those years of pain when we weren't being paid, couldn't service the $600 million debt and were heading for liquidation we should somehow have been spending tens of millions on drilling new wells developing the field and increasing production.

So tell me Sarah, where was the money to come from.
