Parliamentary finances are stabilizing late in the 2022 budget 1603541859276

Shafaq News / The Parliamentary Finance Committee stressed, on Monday, the need to prepare a draft of the General Budget Law for 2022, before the end of the current parliamentary session, noting that holding early elections will delay preparing the budget until the middle of next year.

Committee member Muhammad al-Shabaki told Shafaq News, "It is assumed that the general budget law for 2022 will be implemented by the government and parliament before the end of the parliamentary session and elections are held, but this will not be achieved until the middle of next year."

He indicated that "there must be a financial report submitted by the Ministers of Planning and Finance to the Council of Ministers that includes a set of risks and purchases in order to reach successful plans for preparing the budget law for 2022."

He added that "the budget will not be ready for voting after the elections because of the end of the parliamentary session. It is expected that the debate will continue over the election results, their approval, the holding of the new parliamentary session sessions, and the formation of the next government."

Al-Shibki called for preparing the budget law and sending it to Parliament for the purpose of reading and voting before the end of the parliamentary session next October.

The Independent High Electoral Commission had set October 2021 as the date for holding the elections, after it was postponed from the date that was previously set in June 2021.
