Maybe that Zooman who would not agree with him. :-)If you look at the GGP site they have had threats made to stab people and more to the point the police have been informed.Having said that this BB does not have that to deal with. So have a good weekend one and all including Rosie and you never know the board may update us next week and they may even produce a dividend. ;-)Have a good one.Zoo

I expect you are much younger than me up just a little bit ,if I was forty years younger I would be looking at this in a very different way,I'm afraid you will have to get to eighty to understand,I am in shell A and B ,if we get a dividend I'm not sure what Rose will have to talk about,ha ha ,

Alan, I sold my Shell shares last year. They were a good dividend company but they were boring.

I would be very happy to get a capital gain
and am holding shares with that in view.
What I don't understand is why a dividend
would hurt our expectation of a capital gain.

You should have dropped in Burnchat, I work in Jermyn Street.

I approach divi chat with trepidation... I'm not sure I'm that bothered. I have never had the feeling that the BoD want to run an "institutional" company. They issue RNS when they have to and that is it. Partly to play the game in China I'm sure. We're a funny company, in Bermuda, on Aim, with a mine in China. Whether we pay a divi or not isn't that important to the board. I think they act in the Co's best interests most of the time, while paying themselves quite well. Running a company well doesn't mean you have to try to drive the share price - either by divis or lots of PR.

generally the Co is going in the right direction, a lot has been achieved, with luck (and time/patience) a lot more will be. No debt, profitable, could get more so. Eventually the share price will respond, as long as PoZ is kind. A divi would be bunce to me. If I want divis, I buy divi paying stocks with a track record, this is a cap gain stock, IMHO. I'm so confident that I've topped up a few times, bought some too high, which i currently regret, but average price is fine.

We'll get our high share price at some stage (I hope.....).

We have about nine inches here and my
labradoodle has not yet ventured out
of the house today, as of 1:00 PM.
It will be interesting to see how long
he can hold out.

If the zinc price goes up significantly
then Griffin's share price should indeed follow,
but as we have seen, the zinc price can
also fall. No one can do anything about
it either way, or even reliably predict
it. Arguing for a rise in the price of
zinc is not a strategy.

Similarly, the grant of the licence is
not in the control of the company. Some
expectation of it being granted, eventually,
is baked into the share price already, but
it should still rise sharply when the grant
comes through. If the unexpected happens and
the grant is denied there would be a fall.
Probably won't happen, but again, nothing we
or the board can do but wait. The delay has
been lengthy. Will it be interminable?

Both of these factors will have their effect
on the share price regardless of anything that the board
does or does not do. However, there is one thing
the board can do that will have a positive effect
on the share price quite independently from those factors
they don't control. Now would be a good time to do
it. I don't accept that "I don't care" is a valid
argument against doing it. Does anyone wish to put
a better argument?

Looking at my portfolio of 22 shares rose,( which I know is too many ) most of my dividend paying shares are in the top 100 companies ,and looking down my list I have several dividends a year but I find the companes are pretty boring and don't do much, but my gambling shares are always far more exiting there is never a dull moment,I am different to you because I don't ever sell because as you know I am 80 years old and don't need anything,my friends ive left my money to will have one hellava shock,I hope I will be able to look down on them,

Well that's a good question, currently I think he is given he's a large boisterous German Shepherd who likes the snow. One good thing with the snow he has a good run and play and I can sit and watch whilst thinking do I want to go for that swim this afternoon but it has tobe done.

I just asked you to give it a rest not to shut up. But as you can see you don't read things correctly. At this point in time there is no dividend. Zinc prices have been low but as it climbs I believe more investors will come on board. It's not all just about a dividend that brings investors in but I think you know that. Just seems to me that you want be last word. SO HAVE IT. NOT THAT IT MEANS MUCH Time to take the dog for a walk, I asked him what did he think of your argument? Response, was Ruff Ruff!Zoo ;-)

Well I'd like a dividend and the company has considered it and I would expect them to start paying one in the near term. I agree that some may not invest for dividends and I agree that others do. My personal opinion in this case is that should they pay a regular dividend going forward then this will underpin the share price and attract a new class of investor into the bargain.
Cant go wrong really.

IMHO.

Incidentally, I also "trade the share".
Probably on a different timeline than you.
I sold some at a big gain back in March, and
bought some back later in an ISA. It is the
only way you can currently make money on
Griffin, but I would like that to change,
mostly because the shares I hold would go
up in value.

Maybe you don't hold any shares. Maybe you
are short and hoping to "trade" on the price
going down.

So are you. You still haven't told me why
you keep talking against a dividend when
you "don't care" and still haven't said
how the prospect of a share price rise
when a dividend opens the share to many
more buyers will be bad for someone who
only "trades" the share.

Certainly those who have bought or hold
know there has been no dividend for some
time. My argument is that many more would
be buyers if there were a dividend. Do you
have any argument to make against that?

Seems Zooman is the second here to call for
a poster to shut up.

Rosie please give it a rest, GFM have only paid it once. When have three large shareholders whom are buying in in the knowledge that there is no dividend as well as others like myself and you have bought knowing there is no dividend.Sorry to say this you are like a person who buys a house next to a church then complains about the bells. There's more to it than just a dividend, the company has grown, removed debt, has plans to expand ie new licence etc and operate in China and have done very well. These form part of the company fundamentals that the large investors look for.I've made my position clear I don't care about a dividend because I trade this share. So please give it a rest you are repeating yourself. Zoo

Non-sequitur. More companies have "gone to
the wall" while not paying a dividend. Like
I said, cover is important. Griffin can
cover a sensible dividend.

Why do you think a dividend would be bad
for the share price?

No reason for the licence to be withheld given the slowdown in china
surely it is better for them to produce locally than import
the delay is because China and Australia are not getting on v well and Malcolm Turnbull himself was involved with GFM in the early days

Yes I agree with that,it DOSENT worry me about giving a dividend although I'm sure it will come in the end,I have many shares that pay dividends and I find they do much at all,for instance national grid,it's a very good job we all have different opinions ,I am a bit perturbed that we have so few posters,

At the end of the day there's only one reason to buy shares and thats to make money. How many companies have gone to the wall whilst still paying a dividend? Only a short period of time until we see some movement. With the price of zinc going up is good.IMHO :-)
