Only the Editorial staff of IC believe its content, even then I suspect many don't.

Main thing is that GFM is holding its price whilst all around it others are weakening.

I urge you all to write to them to let you know your views. I don't see the point in buybacks at current level: either buy back millions of shares every week or use the money for dividends imo.

Let them sell-The company will simply buy back more shares for their buck. At this rate they will soon have more cash than what the companies valued at.

Is that the April 20th article? They called
sell at 139. I would be annoyed if I had
followed that advice. They do, however, say
a dividend would change their view. If you
mean the April 12th article, I'm not allowed
to read it.

Well, I said the company had done well, congrats to board, a pity there isn't an investor meeting in London, that I can't get to the AGM but would like the co to introduce a clear dividend policy as I believed that would help the share price significantly. He said that a number of other investors had made similar points and that he would feed all the comments into a forthcoming board meeting. So I would recommend that if people can't attend the AGM, which is most of us, you feed comments to the company through the website contact address, in the knowledge that a director sees them and responds.

Btw I sent an email to Griffin today and got a prompt reply from the finance director. Can't fault the responsiveness.

MF: Indeed it should!

Simply Wall Street estimates GFM's intrinsic value based on FCF (future cash flow)to be 326p versus actual yesterday of 158p.

I heartily agree, too, with your proposals regarding acquisitions; very sensible...

Just to add, although the EPS was a very healthy 24.6c a share, Stockopedia have the FCF as 34c per share. Or 25p in Sterling terms. Astonishingly cash generative. share price should be much higher.

Zinc strong again. It is a pity the SGM is in Bermuda but I intend to write to the company saying that, subject to keeping funds available to develop zone 2, if that ever happens, I do not want the company to consider acquisitions until a progressive dividend policy has been in place for at least 2 years.

Hi RT,

Agreed. I also think that GFM are now around the point where a dividend would be appropriate, assuming no other large-scale plans that need the capital. Hopefully, some movement on that at the HY results.

CEY - apologise for the little dig there. ;-) I did take the opportunity to add some CEY at the bottom of the channel after the news, as i do believe the shortfall will be limited and the share price will at least fill the gap.

With mining you just never can tell what is around the next corner, particularly when production is from a single asset. I would say the CEY recent news is a reminder to try to keep the portfolio balanced.

regards,

Paul

Hi Paul, just back from Hols and catching up.
As this is the GFM board and not CEY I'll keep this (relatively) short and make it a final ref. I agree the CEY news will likely reduce the dividend in 2018, but IMO it will still be able to pay one this year without having any material impact on their ability to grow / invest in the business (they have circa $426M in cash). The issue at the CEY Sukari mine is short term and forecast to be resolved through Q3 and therefore it should be BAU moving into 2019. IMO all companies whether miners or 'Other' have the propensity through their natural growth or as part of the business cycle to have performance patches where they are less profitable and hence need to vary the level of dividends, none are immune. I accept Miners are more susceptible to dividend impacts due to the cyclical nature of commodity based stocks than Others, however I still believe a dividend should be paid where it is feasible and doesn't pose risk to the company's ability to invest and grow. With regard to GFM, IMO that time is now.
Cheers
RT

I wish CEY was as boring as GFM......

I'm also a holder of CEY and have topped up today. 7p dividend this year 10p last year they will still make a good profit this year and pay a good dividend next.
