A post on iii by Vipers Ox worth reposting here

Big institutional trades going through - the seller will have wanted a premium for volume so I would expect the price to drift downwards when the buyer has reached his fill. However should the buyer be predatory or a 'big name' this may well boost the share price in the short term but again a drift until further news short/medium term. The only proviso is that this is challenger to champion year - perhaps this is a mega deal they have been working on for some time, a reverse takeover of a company with enough boots on the ground to cope with CTC demand or as previously alluded to a predator who is fed up with seeing a relative minnow providing a far superior product to their own offering.
All in all within a few years I wouldnt be surpised to see GHT with a market cap of 500m +
All my own views and speculation.....

dd, I cannot see there being a Q3 trading update unless they have signed some mega deals and that effectively H2 is already in the bag, and please remember that H2 is a tough ask although I think GHT will deliver. Further I am hopeful they will exceed forecasts but this is likely to be December/Bank financial year end deal based.

We just need to pass the 188p barrier, we could be there with or without a q3 trading update but would for sure help to stay above it - perhaps.

Still on a pe of only 30 for 2017 and that is on the current discredited broker forecasts. A quarter 3 update would provide the brokers a face saving opportunity to redeem themselves.

Gottafly you were saying I will have to wait for that "expected" rise.. share price was 179p than I recall.

Now that Max Royde and his right hand man Chris Eddington have left the board the direction of the company has changed somewhat. The idea of a nice little earner/annuity/dividend stream does not sit well with the ambitions of the GHT management team so I don't think dividends are any sort of priority. If GHT are awash with cash then a small dividend might be paid, however it would not surprise me if nothing was paid.

I am sure the recent stake building at 185p was not done because dividends might be paid. Further I would suggest these new holders are looking at far more than a modest rise to 200p and in that regard they must be totally ignoring the current 2018 broker forecasts.

So if they were to start a dividend payout, when would that be?

Half year reports are limited and short and talks about "comparative" periods. They will start off with annual dividend payments.

From the half year:
"No dividends were declared or paid during the period or comparative periods."

Yes but I don't think it was restated in the most recent half year report unless I have missed it, hence the reason I raised the question.

The last sentence from the last annual report

As reported last year, the Board is committed to commencing
a progressive dividend as soon as circumstances are considered to
be appropriate, having regard to the need for ongoing investments
to support long-term growth. The Board’s firm intention remains
to declare a maiden dividend in respect of the financial year 2017.

Thinking a bit more about my post yesterday evening, at at least two previous AGMs it was Max Royde who always spoke positively about paying about a divi in the not too distant future.

Now that he is no longer a board member it could be possible that they are having a rethink about that.

cc, I raised that question at the investor presentation following the half year results, as I could not see anything about a divi in the half year statement.

I can't quite remember exactly what was said, but I sort of got the impression that they were not quite so committed to a divi as before.

I also remember previously at the AGM another PI suggesting that instead of paying a divi, any surplus cash might be better utilised in expanding the company, which is a reasonable point.

Personally as they previously created the expectation of a dividend, payable in 2018 out of 2017 profits, I would prefer that they did pay one, not for the income, but for the sake of credibility.

Well I can't see the share price being less than 200p but who knows how high it could get. dd has suggested that once broker client demand is satisfied then updated forecasts will be provided and share price level will rise, this is perhaps a little cynical but I certainly believe the share price is being held back.

I personally cannot see new forecasts being released prior to the year end unless some major new deals are announced to act as a catalyst. Rightly or wrongly the brokers have made their forecasts and I don't see them changing.

What I think is a given is with the very high share volumes occurring in the last few days there is strong institutional demand, clearly the GHT presentation was a success in creating share demand.

The key question is will GHT confound the current forecasts and over achieve in H2, I have a sneaking feeling they will but currently the forecasts and share price say otherwise.

So where does this leave all of us who made predictions earlier in the year as to where we saw the Share Price at the end of 2017?

schytalk both the brokers will upgrade numbers once their clients are loaded up.

More large trades reported today, 900k and 475k at 185p. "Volume" is now 4m in the last 3 days.

My gut feeling is we will see a repeat of last year from August 2016 to January 2017, as I can see similar share price action and "volume".

I hope there will be a q3 trading statement, that would give the brokers a chance to catch up which I hope is the case, and also ensure the year end forecasts are not too out of sync with the company.

It is pretty clear that stake building has and is going on, yet the share price seems to be somewhat stuck. N1 are in the market for blocks of shares of 50k or more. My mate was bid at 180 for 50k and declined, they came back at 185 offering to buy his entire holding!

Another 250k went through yesterday making 480k at 180p, does seem that stake building is going on.
