A great company but as someone else has pointed out, it's now on a similar valuation to McDonald's.

Laith Khalaf, a senior analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown, said: “The new vegan sausage roll has helped bring home the bacon for Greggs, prompting a spike in sales at the start of this year.

“It’s unclear how much of the boom can be attributed to sales of actual vegan rolls rather than simply the publicity associated with the launch. However, catering for vegan diets is now rising up the priority list for many food retailers, with M&S recently launching its new vegan range, Plant Kitchen.

“This isn’t just a flash in the pan for Greggs either; it builds on strong performance last year and demonstrates it is still possible for bricks-and-mortar retailers to earn a crust on the UK high street. Last year, total sales rose by 7.2% and the baker opened around 100 new outlets.”

I like the BBC headline
"Greggs is on a roll"

bookbroker sends this thread off at a tangent. Obviously (s)he thinks that an individual has absolutely no responsibility for his or her actions and that a vendor is 'singularly responsible'. I suppose this is symptomatic of the times that we are in.

Anyway, I for one am pleased with Greggs. Long may it continue.

This company should be held singularly responsible for the obesity epidemic in this country, great performer, but perhaps in in part due to the great value pastries they sell, but muxst be fully loaded on the HDL lipoproteins they possess!

Morning ttid .

All depends if they have plans now to expand this vegan range which seems to be going gangbusters. They've got this mexican bean wrap plus the cheese and onion one but I reckon the brains behind the vegan sausage roll are working on it.

Fingers crossed ;-)

I remember when barius used to say greggs is going to the grave. Mind you this was only a year ago, when the snow storm pushed greggs to £9 a share, yes £9 a share. I've bought shares at £15, £13 and the majority at £10. I am up 50% on my initial investment. Would I buy at £17, maybe not? The price is at fair value now, past £19 and we are into overbought territory.

a chance to buy any high street freeholds going cheap,
then having complete control, eliminating huge costs
of putting units back per lease, if needed
option of freeholds being put in staff pension fund,
banks see less risk than being a tenant

I'd like to congratulate Gregg for another fantastic set of greasy sausage rolls.Surely the government will ban such unhealthiness soon.Jamie Oliver is already crying like a baby about sugary drinks, he's probably having a fit at Gregg's doing so well.Stick up for your local Gregg's I say. Before the left wing green sickos ban everything we love

Yes of course, material difference and it's customary to update.
I'm less sure what the exact regulatory requirement is.

I suppose if there is a material difference to what the market is expecting they need to be told, high balls and low balls count equally ?

It’s obviously a positive statement but I don’t understand why they have come out with this at such an early stage of the year.

Looks rampy to me.

Directors looking to offload stock?

Vegan sausage warning !
That's the kind of profit warning that I like, a one shaped like a sausage and wrapped in dough.

Has Greggs ever had any potential suitor linked to them, after coke bought costa it makes me wonder.
Costa sells coffee and pastries and Greggs sells pastries and coffee if you see what I mean :-)
