09/7/2018 09:38 | #1459, Although GNK and MARS are now quasi-'nationals' following the upheavals/acquisitio | jeffian
09/7/2018 08:09 | Picked up some of these this morning at 564p inc. costs. I've been drinking in pubs for well over 30 years and - football or no football - I have never seen them so crowded. I imagine trade must be booming at GNK. | gostevie63
06/7/2018 10:07 | Maybe, Greene King have a disproportionate number of their pubs/restaurants in Scotland? | tymedici
06/7/2018 08:44 | Jeffian. I accept that maybe, the markets should not react to the good weather, but they reacted to the updates regarding the adverse weather. That had an effect on the bottom line, possibly temporary, and share price, so likewise if the good weather and football etc has a temporary effect on profits, , then that should have a positive effect on the share price. However, we cannot overlook the fact that this share price in virtually controlled by people in the know with plenty of money to short at will. | ianian4
05/7/2018 23:00 | England set for sizzling £3BILLION World Cup weekend of beer, BBQs and ice cream | philanderer
05/7/2018 20:41 | Pub chain Greene King plans to cut about 100 office jobs | philanderer
05/7/2018 20:38 | The World Cup will no doubt cause a boost but even that can even it self out I was out last night in places that are usually steady on a Wednesday night but last night they were deserted!People only have so much money for eating and drinking out. | tim 3
05/7/2018 16:12 | Yes, but my point is that the market isn't going to give any re-rating purely on weather-related ups and downs in trading. They're welcome, but temporary. | jeffian
05/7/2018 15:52 | It will more than cancel it. Winter is a slow time anyway for breweries. I'm thinking record sales. | kexicus
05/7/2018 14:25 | It's all short-term stuff, though. The pluses of the weather and the World Cup will probably just cancel out the minus from "The Beast From The East". | jeffian
05/7/2018 14:14 | Co2 shortage, boozers rammed, selling out of beer and soft drinks everywhere, brilliant weather, England game going all the way to penalties then a win. Surely this can only go North. Someone is surely stock-piling shares? | kexicus
05/7/2018 14:07 | Surprised this is down, weather and England must be doing well for the pubs.. | chc15
05/7/2018 08:09 | 5th july Numis reduce tp 510p reiteration | philanderer
04/7/2018 12:47 | Just read the results. What surprised me was comments on numbers of UK restaurants continuing to increase, particularly given the high profile closures in the news. | essentialinvestor
03/7/2018 21:49 | England 😊👍 | philanderer
02/7/2018 16:11 | More or less back to where we were at the start of the year +3p , which is more than can be said for the FTSE100 -140pts ... and FTSE250 -121 pts ;-) | philanderer
02/7/2018 12:50 | 'Rising costs give Greene King a headache' | philanderer
30/6/2018 10:47 | Jeffian, Apparently Greene King management seem to think they make them “Through constant innovation, we’ve taken the traditional art of brewing to new heights, creating what we believe is the finest range of cask and craft ales on the market.” But unlikely to find anything as interesting (or expensive) as this | spacecake
29/6/2018 14:51 | Numis 'reduce' .. reiteration | philanderer
29/6/2018 13:13 | Said it was firing blanks!! | redartbmud
29/6/2018 12:10 | Hence I PA He He | ignoble
29/6/2018 11:51 | Well I'm stuck in a time warp. What type of beer drinker lists "innovative products" among reasons for choosing a beer?! This is truly the Apple generation. | jeffian
29/6/2018 10:58 | I do like a pint of Abbot ale, however I liked it just as much 30 years ago. Where are the new innovative products ?.... Well there here... But have you seen them in the pub / bar or anyone else's bar or in the supermarkets? Like Marstons GNK are trying (unsuccessfully) to catch up with a change in the market that has basically passed them by. No supermarket manager in their right mind would put any of those beers in with the craft crowd. There's traditional and then there's stuck in a time warp, take your pick. | spacecake
29/6/2018 08:51 | Good chart support at 535p Greene King needs a good World Cup Football matches and boxing boosted Greene King (GNK) over Easter and the brewer and pub group now stands to benefit from the World Cup. Interactive Investor believes that these factors can bolster a turnaround. The company reported a 2.2% rise in like-for-like sales over the past eight weeks, although they were down 1.2% over the year to April. Full-year pre-tax profits were impacted by bad weather, which kept people at home. Analyst Lee Wild said Greene King was also contending with closing pubs, fierce competition, rising costs, and low consumer confidence. ‘Greene King’s shares began a recovery from last September’s profits warning in April, rallying more than 40% in just a few months from 450p to 650p,’ he said. ‘There’s still more to do, certainly in terms of efficiency, but management has made a good start to this turnaround programme and is currently backed to do better. The shares aren’t expensive by any stretch, and the dividend yield is attractive.’ Investors marked down the shares which dropped 57 points or 9% to 581p on Thursday. | philanderer |
