I've copied this from Proton on the GGP thread. I've just watched it through (you'll need a spare hour) and have to say there is some VERY VERY interesting stuff in it. Bottom line is that I am very happy to be overweight in Gold miners at present (mainly AAU and GGP achieved through a large holding here)!

This week Andrew Maguire sits down to discuss the gold and silver markets with Alasdair Macleod, one of the most requested guests and respected figures in the financial and precious metals industries.

Newcrest Mining: Digging Into The FY2020 Reserve Update
Seeking Alpha - 11th April 2021

...Telfer, on the other hand, is running low on reserves, with just ~1.1 million ounces at 0.68 grams per tonne gold as of the most recent reserve update. This translates to a sub-3-year mine life based on FY2021 guidance, which calls for ~390,000 ounces of gold production at the mid-point. The good news, though, is that Greatland Gold's Havieron discovery, where Newcrest holds a 60% ownership, has come at just the right time, with the ability to revitalize the relatively high-cost Telfer asset (H12021 costs: $1,676/oz). For those unfamiliar, Havieron lies just 45 kilometers east of Telfer in the Paterson Province of Western Australia, and Newcrest can earn up to 75% of the project (60% currently)....

For anyone that missed it, or as a reminder to those that didn't, Paddy posted an excellent Tweet back in January indicating the potential effect of Cu at Havieron on the Telfer AISC:

@proton.....I follow Andrew Maguire, he is so infused, always an enjoyable watch. That interview was pretty scary.I hope his guest is wrong, cos if not, then I don't see how this is all going to end. Certainly not with roses round the door!

Another gold stock upleg - MINING.COM

The gold miners’ stocks suffered a rocky start to 2021, rolling over into an extended correction after a young upleg prematurely failed. The resulting deeper lows left sentiment overwhelmingly bearish, with this contrarian sector deeply out of favor. But over the last five weeks or so, gold stocks have powered higher again in another young upleg. This one has a far-stronger foundation given the underlying gold setup....

This a classic example...

Short, crash the SP, get cheap shares and load up when mining shares ,POG and
sentiment is down. Discourage small PIs, make them nervous.
II at its best :-)

It could all be routine, but as you say why the rush, especially for the second 5%.One thing that does interest me, is why they have suddenly gone looking again at Ernest Giles and bidding for extra neighbouring tenements?

Explanation but not of the seemingly rude haste.

“ Pre-emption rights. Most premium listed public companies obtain annual authority to issue up to 5% of their current issued share capital for cash on a non-preemptive basis (with the ability to increase this by a further 5% for acquisitions or specified capital investments). AIM companies and companies with a standard listing will sometimes have authority to issue up to 20% on a non-preemptive basis, even though this may not be best practice from a corporate governance perspective. However, many companies will welcome the statement on 1 April 2020 from the Pre-Emption Group (PEG) that recommends that investors consider supporting, on a case-by-case basis, non-preemptive issuances by companies of up to 20% of their issued share capital on a temporary basis during the Covid-19 crisis. The Association for Financial Markets in Europe’s Equity Capital Markets group has also welcomed this statement..,”

I should also add that the extra shares could be used for another company to buy directly into the company. Maybe NOT Newcrest!!!!

Could be a few reasons...Negative - placingPositive - all share buy out of another company or tenements. We have a general meeting on the 20th regarding allocating shares. Part of the resolution is to allow shares to be used to buy something ( although they state they have nothing in mind at the moment. But you would say that wouldn't you ;0)This resolution was withdrawn at the AGM and you have to ask why is it being resurrected now. Why not wait till the next AGM, unless you are looking to use it.Two more weeks of games perhaps?

Just looked shares being bought and sold equally, looks like a 'fixed' price of 19.37 maximum same as yesterday if we breach this it is the first stage. Why 19.37 anyone got a clue apart from MM imposed limit, sounds like collusion
