Wow. Impressive document .fantastic partner for GGP to be involved with. Very interesting that forward forecast utilises assumption of gold at just $1,300 -very prudent I would guess when many knowledgeable pundits are predicting up to $3,000. However must surely increase likelihood of GGP being taken over at some point ???

Good article Timber.

Eva ( see bellow)is cautious when assessing Telfer/Havieron`s `numbers`

Eva joined FNArena in 2012 and has been covering stockbroker analysis of ASX-

listed companies since, as well as writing general news stories.

I`d say very cautious but without the real data she/brokers wouldn``t know.

Telfer can easily process half of million ounces per year/

See here what NCM considers Tier 1 , page 54

Potential for > 300 kozpa Au

Potential for > 15 year mine life preferred

Significant resource or exploration upside likely

Newcrest’s Golden Opportunity Becoming Clearer
FNArena - 27th May 2020

Uncertainty regarding where the next "gold rush" is coming from has put pressure on Newcrest Mining but several brokers believe the answer may be closer than generally believed.

As gold grades began to decline in the Cadia Valley and earnings appeared to be peaking, Newcrest Mining ((NCM)) ramped up its search for replacement projects. The uncertainty about where the next gold rush was coming from has put pressure on the stock, despite a robust gold price.

However, several brokers believe the answer is close at hand and should return Newcrest to its rightful place as Australia's bellwether gold equity. UBS is interested in what a block cave could provide for the economics of Red Chris (Canada) and what Havieron could do for the ageing Telfer mine (Western Australia). So too is Citi.....

p@,

Obviously they are trying to find periphery of the ore-body.
Yes, 3 drill holes there, looks encouraging.
Last RNS:

"Further work is planned to evaluate exploration opportunities that extend the known mineralisation. Initial drilling conducted by Newcrest has confirmed higher grade mineralisation, broadened mineralised extents defined by prior drilling and extended the depth of observed mineralisation of the Havieron prospect. The results of drilling to date indicate the limits of mineralisation have been closed off to the east, and south, and remain open to the north, and at depth. Drilling programs at Havieron are ongoing with nine drill rigs currently in operation. "

How can you have negative interest? So the BOE will pay banks to take money off them and then charge us 4/8% depending on risk? 2008 repeated.....will they ever learn, they are just going to make the rich even richer.

Minus interest rates in Japan caused
people to keep cash at home. That would
be a bigger problem here. Japan hasn't
as much crime as we do. One big effect
was that Japanese consumers waited longer
to replace consumer goods because they
got cheaper rather than more expensive
with the lack of inflation.

-ve interest rates in EU led to banks sending surplus cash to US to earn some interest. This reduced capital in EU, leading to lethargic markets. Attracting capital is key to competitive advantage.

-ve interest rates will lead to even more depression - already witnessed effects in EU and Japan. It’s a question of how confident we feel about the future. Less confidence = drawing into our shells, including hoarding. People will find ever more ways of bypassing the banking system, thereby reducing availability of capital for fractional banking. A slow death spiral IMO.

Countries are being forced to use extreme measures to keep the economy afloat amid the coronavirus crisis.

Now, the Bank of England has signalled that it may take the cost of borrowing below zero.

proton - I don't know anymore and to be honest it doesn't matter - he/she makes no odds and I can't remember why I thought the Angry Geologist was a woman! I think it more than likely I'm wrong.

Wasn't expecting to see anything on the satellite image today with the big storm that has hit WA but there's a small break in the cloud that lets us see the Western section of Havieron

There appears to be another drill pad in the NW in that line of 3 - we'd already seen the ground prepared in that position but good to see an actual sump pad appearing there.

There also is another sump pad appearing in the SW cluster but over towards the West of that cluster so consistent with the 'growing' phase - NCM must be sick of putting all these holes in the ground and finding nothing lol :-)))

Thanks Proton. I've been waiting for The Angry Geologist (who I think is actually a woman) to post her assessment of Havieron for a while - it should have been around 8th May but nothing so far.
