14/4/2009 12:37 | Glad I bought in. Can see these at £1.50 before too long | volsung
06/4/2009 12:26 | Time to get back into these? Bought a small tranche this morning | volsung
27/3/2009 10:26 | The CFO is obviously, and quite rightly, blamed for the fiasco regarding the technical breach of banking covenants following the change in USD exchange rate. That resulted in a 65% drop in share price when it was announced to the market. He should have noticed earlier and warned the Board and potentially put in place some hedging. | geovest
26/3/2009 10:53 | Seems a pretty sudden resignation of CFO. No nice reason offered such as other interests, a place in the sun etc.... Trouble brewing? G. | garth
11/3/2009 08:02 | Just checked .... limits the same this morning on open .... | imabastard
11/3/2009 07:57 | 8T .... haha ! Yes, you can only buy or sell none of any limit at present ! It's on the assumption that the online limits showing out of of hours on Selftrade are the last recorded online limits at the end of the trading day. I finally succumbed to your advice of opening a Selftrade account to keep track of the limits. | imabastard
10/3/2009 23:16 | Pretty impressive considering the market has been closed 7 hours Ima :-)) | 8trader
10/3/2009 23:13 | Online limits looking good here .... showing can only buy 2,500 online on Selftrade .... but can sell 7,500. | imabastard
09/3/2009 09:38 | Whilst the trading environment for the end user markets into which we sell a number of our products has not significantly improved in the calendar year to date, the Company is able to report that several substantial orders have recently been received and that overall order intake has been encouraging throughout January and February 2009. A significant proportion of these orders are for aerospace & defence, life sciences and research applications and are scheduled for shipment during the current financial year. Recent acquisitions and new product developments have strengthened the position of the Company in these markets. Given the improving order backlog and reduced operating costs the Board continues to have confidence that it will achieve its revised forecast for | cambium
27/2/2009 14:39 | Short time working and redundancies at Ilminster HQ factory and at Torquay too. | walthera
30/1/2009 09:07 | Drop was severe & so was the fall over last 12 months. But you can't use words like bank discussions & covenants in this market, might just as well say, Shoot Me. | jhan66
30/1/2009 02:15 | ouch... used to hold these. solid co. can't be as bad as all that,s surely? | brando69
30/1/2009 00:50 | The market has treated the announcement very harshly and I expect a bounce from these levels in the coming days. W. | walthera
29/1/2009 23:56 | Phil, 11.5M market cap - the £25M is the figure still showing from pre-fall. G. | garth
29/1/2009 17:35 | Is that the lowest close ever? Looks like they have encountered a very dramatic drop off. Seems almost impossible that it was just a year ago that we were not far off 10x this price and pushing "photonic switch" yr 2000 highs. The delaying of results is hopefully just a prudent move. From memory, aren't borrowings at about £6m? Not too bad.... G. | garth
29/1/2009 17:20 | m/c £25M against T/O £33m (and falling fast it would seem) suggests this is still too high and has further to fall. | philjeans
29/1/2009 17:14 | Closed down 55% at 50/65. Last paragraphs of the rns do not make happy reading - Rights issue possibilityu? Consequently, the Company is in discussions with its bankers, The Royal Bank of Scotland plc, concerning the impact of these currency issues that affect, and may continue to affect, certain bank covenant calculations. The Board is confident that the Company will meet its bank interest and debt repayment obligations to its bankers as they fall due. The Company believes that it is not appropriate to finalise its accounts for the year ended 30 September 2008 until the discussions with its bankers have been satisfactorily completed. | pugugly
11/11/2008 19:23 | Very nice bounce over recent days. Doing all the right things. G. | garth
11/11/2008 10:40 | The timing of the General Optics purchase was great considering the £/$ rate of exchange. Also, now that the £ has fallen 25% in the last few months then exports from the new, enlarged factory at Ilminster can be more competitively priced to the USA and elsewhere. Disclosure: have, for me, a sizeable holding. | walthera
11/11/2008 10:12 | Well I bought a small tranch yesterday - there is a lot going on at this little company - they are the world most advanced developers of Optics - and expanding fast since the acquisition of Sifam and more resently General Optics their position has been even more enhanced : "The acquisition of General Optics is the latest step in delivering our strategic objectives of gaining greater presence in key target markets and in securing a leading or dominant position in the fields in which we operate," said Gareth Jones, chief executive officer of Gooch & Housego. "General Optics is a business that Gooch & Housego has always held in high regard. Its pre-eminent position in super-polished optics is highly complementary to our precision optics manufacturing capabilities in Ilminster, UK, but extends our reach by providing us with access to the important U.S. aerospace & defence sector, as well as a presence in what is the world's largest market for high-end optics. We look forward to working with the employees and management to continue the development of the business." | walker10
15/7/2008 08:03 | General Optics purchase. Not too keen on aquisitive companies, I usually come out poorer but maybe GHH timing things right while the Dollar is low | jhan66
17/6/2008 08:55 | share price is also down 30% the last few months. | stefield
17/6/2008 08:54 | bit dissapointing, but still looks well placed for the future, will look to buy back in when it settles . | stefield |
