06/6/2005 10:48 | Indeed they were :0) But silly old me stuck some of the profits in DUC at £20 when what I should have been doing was selling the ones I bought at £7! :0P Older and wiser now tho ;0) G. | garth
06/6/2005 09:13 | Ahh, those were the days! | kingsize
18/5/2005 09:56 | I know most of you newbies are using the other thread - which is great - but FWIW I've updated the header on this one for any traditionalists such as myself who remember buying at 70p taking some profits at 600p and topping up again at 70p ;-) | garth
11/5/2005 19:07 | Looks like a middle finger to me. | f880gna
11/5/2005 09:11 | Well its got the shoulders now ! Starting to look undervalued now, considering going back in, but the chart has spooked me. Haven't looked at it properly since selling - anyone know anything bad been announced ? Interims 8th June, earlier statement said on target. So approx 14p eps and a current p/e of around 12. With a chart like this though, think I'll wait till interims - shouldn't need to rush to buy at a reasonable level if results OK. | yump
01/4/2005 08:09 | Odd looking chart now - some sort of horror shoulderless head ? | yump
01/4/2005 08:01 | ......and here is the news RNS Number:4386K Gooch & Housego PLC 01 April 2005 1 April 2005 GOOCH & HOUSEGO PLC New Global Headquarters Site Update Gooch & Housego, the specialist manufacturer of acousto-optic and electro-optic devices, precision optical components, crystals, and instruments for measuring optical radiation, today announces that it expects to complete the purchase of land and buildings at Dowlish Ford near Ilminster, currently comprising 67,000 sq ft of buildings on 7.8 acres of land, on 6th April 2005. This represents a milestone in the history of Gooch & Housego allowing extensive scope for expansion and securing the company's long-term future in Ilminster. The site will be developed through a mixture of renovation and new purpose built facilities to become the Company's global headquarters and UK optical manufacturing facility. The re-development will commence this summer, with full occupation expected by financial year-end, September 2006. The new site, currently owned and until today operated by Clarks, the shoe manufacturer, is located close to Gooch & Housego's existing 25,000 sq ft where the Company's expansion has been restricted by a lack of space and inefficient workflows. The Company's high precision optical products are finished in an ultra clean environment to achieve the very high quality demanded by our global customer base. The new factory will provide this environment and improve efficiency, while investment in new plant and machinery will allow the Company to expand its operations and create the showcase facility originally envisioned by co-founder Archie Gooch, who has recently retired as Chairman. 31/3/2005 09:27 | The local press in Somerset state that Clarks have produced the last pair of shoes at their Ilminster factory (to be displayed at the Shoe Museum next to Clarks Village shopping outlet at Street, Somerset) and the factory at Ilminster will close tomorrow, 1 April. There was no further news regarding the subsequent use of the factory site but I would expect that news to come in due course from G & H rather than Clarks. | walthera
21/3/2005 18:13 | Fairly typical of the volatility that affect GHH, it's not exactly the most liquid of stocks. Good opportunity if it falls any further, bottom of the trendline looks like circa 190. I make today's volume rather more than usual. | f880gna
21/3/2005 11:42 | Not much volume showing - bit of a surprise. Thought it had topped when sold at 225 but I expected a kind of civilised retreat. Wasn't overblown or anything. | yump
21/3/2005 10:42 | ouch !! - is this just profit taking ? | philjh
15/3/2005 13:12 | What results are these, rafieh? Year end is 30 September and half year end is 31 March. Interim results are expected to be announced around 16 June. There may be more information before then regarding the appointment of a new chairman and also regarding the new factory site. | walthera
11/3/2005 09:04 | Results due on 22/03/05, should see this above 240P. | rafieh
10/3/2005 16:59 | Topped up and as soon as I did then up went the share price Is there some shortage of shares or are the mm's just playing games? | walthera
10/3/2005 15:07 | Given that the share price is solidly backed up by earnings, I can imagine it might dip to around the 210p mark. I've only sold because I think its bounced off the top trendline and if it was going to go up to say 280p it would have headed off there already, but mainly I've got another home for the money ! | yump
10/3/2005 12:46 | Paused for a breather as expected after the satisfying rise however the current fall in the share price represents a "buying on the dips" opportunity that I for one will take advantage of before long. | walthera
10/3/2005 09:36 | That's me out - doesn't look like its going to high 200's which is what I'd hoped for and its had a very good run. Could still get a p/e of 20 x the 15p, but someone else can have that. | yump
18/2/2005 12:56 | Walthera, Thanks for that - somehow it had passed me by. | kingsize |
