I have hat - good spot. To be honest it's new to me GOALS, but I play a couple times a week at various sites. Looking at the annual report - they invested £11.6M in capital expenditure. Whilst property assets are good, they are spending double their profits each year in maintenance and 'upgrading'. Is there anyway the business can release shareholder value from the property?

Jimmy - Guess you chose to ignore the Property Assets of 117M. As investors we look forward. They seem to be doing the right thing, the market will catch up.

Weather had a big impact - "In common with many businesses Goals was impacted by the challenging weather conditions in weeks 9 and 10 and consequently like-for like sales for the first 10 weeks of our year to 10 March were -3.0%" valuehound - I'm with you, bought in (small) on the back of the results. Hoping I have my timing right. uPBT 6,2M Op Cash 6M Property Assets 117M v 30M debt 2018 investment only from Cash flow. 50:50 JV with City Football Club (who invested $16M) – US Expansion

I thought these results were excellent given the lowly valuation placed on GOAL? THey should be more like 90p-£1 IMO.

The "Beast from the East" will have probably closed most sites for say 2 weeks or more but overheads and most staff costs still have to be paid so potentially a major hit to next half's revenue (imo)

Results in just over a weeks time, not expecting any surprises. Hopefully all that capital expenditure will start to pay off soon. I wonder what Mike Ashley's interest is.

Pretty awful update, had definitely not expected LFL sales to go back into negative territory. Their UK business is a pile of garbage. I would support them divesting poorly performing centers and channeling that money to better performing centers as well as the US operations (which I think is LT the most promising area for Goals).

5 hours since post 478 = Share price down 10% - No other comments - Message received MINIMAL INTEREST in soccer at family play level - Could this offering be going the same way a 10 pin bowling, squash etc etc - A short term interest spike and then a fall away - If so could it be that GOAL has a broken business model ?? In other words Soccer is basiscally reverting to a spectator sport rather than participation??

Accounts out - what a laugh - management doing their best to spin but initial reaction pitches are on a slope DOWNHILL.

Anyone that regularly plays 5-a-side know that pitch prices are a rip-off. Sadly, the economics never look any good to me.

Why isn't goals offering schools the chance to use the free pitches in the day time at a reduced cost?

what does everyone think of the fact that Keith Rogers isn't on the board anymore? The Company also announces that Keith Rogers, an executive director, has stepped down from the Board. Mark Jones CEO said "On behalf of the Company I would like to acknowledge and express our sincere gratitude to Keith for his invaluable and constructive contribution to the Board over the years and we wish him well in the future" http://www.investegate.co.uk/goals-soccer-centres--goal-/rns/post-close-trading-update/201701160700101911U/ Asagi (no position)

I think Goal's need to listen to FIFA and the FA's message. FIFA and the FA are trying to promote FUTSAL to help develop young players. Pele, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Messi, Cotiniho(?) all played Futsal before they played football. I'm a football coach and I've seen players improve significantly having only played a few games of Futsal in the "correct" environment fast sports hall surface, heavy low bounce size 3/4 Futsal ball. Brazil, Chile, Peru, Spain, Protugal school chidren have to play Futsal until they are fourteen! Mandatory...at their schools. Goals need to partner drop or reduce the wierd 4G 5-aside and attract the premier league acadamies and or local clubs with a Futsal offering. They could also let the courts to Basketball, Netball or Hockey clubs too (Badminton, indoor tennis etc). The only Goals centres Ive been to look tired and unfit for purpose so suspect they will need more money for a refurb before they'll attract a new wave of customers and income.

When I saw the headline this morning, I was disappointed as I thought we were going to see details of a planned discounted placing. Instead, I see that we've already raised a gross £16.75m, that the cash is to be used to upgrade the stock etc., and that it was all done at £1 per share - not at an insiders' discount and higher than the price at which many of us bargain hunters bought recently. The fact that Chris Mills is a NED is also telling as it's probably him who was the main driver behind this move. I think it's excellent news and can easily see the shares being 50% higher by the end of the year.

These are now looking good value but momentum is against it at the moment , will be sitting on the sidelines to wait for the price to stabilise before potentially going in.
