Hi phil, hope you are keeping well and the wet weather is not affecting things too much.
The shares actually rose for SGC I saw over 5%. They haven't hedged on fuel as well as GOG by any means and their operations have suffered in the USA.
GOG are better placed there is no doubt and the recent aquisitions have been very shrewd moves indeed.
I look forward to the statement next week which should push the share price higher

Hi trt, trust your well. Did you have a chance to have a look at the Stagecoach results today? I only saw (or heard) the headline: profits were down. Quite significantly, I gather. What are the prospects for GOG do you think?

Go-Ahead will currently keep (as noone would buy it) Aviance operation in Terminal 1 at Heathrow. Plane Handling (Profitable) is to be sold and the remainder of Aviance is to be sold to Dnata.

LONDON (SHARECAST) - Bus and train group Go-Ahead is retaining some legacy contracts at Heathrow that are scheduled to run until 2011, and it is holding on to the Meteor car parking business, but the focus is firmly on public transport.

Cue the acquisition of Plymouth CityBus, which has a fleet of more than 170 buses and carries about 14 million passengers every year. Taken together, it is all good progress. And while Go-Ahead may not have the global reach of rivals such as First Group, it has fine prospects.

Buy says the Independent.

If this price level holds for next hour or so this could be the bottom of this current down move.

Agreed - I have my eye on 1155 ,the lowest EOD close in July.

The yield at that share price would be about 7 percent (was 6.44 percent at last Friday's close).

Dawntrader/Enami - I don't know he-haw about interpreting charts, but would 1180 be regarded as a support or would the share price have to go to 1150?

I assume you are referring to the Dubai situation - this will resolve itself as all these financial issues do.I don't see the current market situation as a problem but as an opportunity.
Its like the time to buy many stocks was October 2008 right at the heart of the recession and when financial markets were in real trouble - Anthony Bolton / Warren Buffet I seem to recall always say buy when folk are fearful sell when folk are greedy.

trt... long term holder ... you keep topping up and are therefore averaging down... not holding ...if you were a "long term holder" last august .. you have been buying since 20 quid..... it will not be tomorrow as the "trend" is still down. There is so far no end to the down side, unless there is a big bounce from all this so called bad news ... and will depend what / how the americans take all this.

Because for long term holders it doesn't really make a great deal of difference and as you say its impossible to know exactly when the up trend will resume - could well be tomorrow !!

The market will always remain something of a mystery to me. Presumiably the dip (or plunge) in prices today is caused by the Dubai difficulties (or maybe I've missed something!) I can see why Carillion and Interserve with interests and outstanding contracts in the Middle East should fall, but why should GOG fall by 4.5%? I am sure GOG will be thinking about bidding for the cancelled NEX contracts and everything else seems to be going along nicely. So why the drop?

Why ... oh why .. buy today . when they will possibly be ..or more likely be cheaper tomorrow...I know you can never call a bottom with regular precision.... but to keep throwing money at this in a down trend... is a bit of a waste...

National Express will have its East Anglia rail franchise terminated three years early, the government has said.

The Department for Transport said National Express would lose the franchise on 31 March 2011.

It could have been extended until 2014 had National Express not defaulted on another franchise - the East Coast Main Line - earlier this year.

National Express said the decision was "expected", but that it was "disappointed" by the announcement.

Transport Secretary Lord Adonis said the process for securing a new operator would start immediately so that a new franchise could begin in April 2011.

Excellent news - GOG could bid for the franchise ???
