27/3/2018 13:25 | Yes, but it's NOT Pfizer and the competition is taking longer to come to market than previously thought - there was yet another delay reported only a few days ago. None of the previous 'fears' has materialised or they have been significantly mitigated. | woodhawk
27/3/2018 13:19 | Who would have thought that news of a purchase would cause one of the biggest rises for months, especially when you consider the reaction to even the suggestion of the Pfizer purchase. Funny old market! | tim 3
27/3/2018 13:15 | Lets hope so. Its been a pretty dismal year since the change in CEO, without any proper negative news (most has been positive clinical updates + failure for generics to rival Advair). I'm still underwater here, but I can see the surface. | dr biotech
27/3/2018 13:08 | With the withdrawl from the Pfizer deal and the divi no longer under any apparent threat, I think some decent gains will be forthcoming, 1500p? | woodhawk
27/3/2018 13:03 | romeike - Seems the market likes the news. Yes, they need to get this done and dusted asap and then perhaps we will see a return to plus £14 share price would be good. | losos
27/3/2018 12:12 | GSK pre-planned for this and arranged very cheap, long term debt to cover the acquisition well in advance, with general debt to be reduced using funds from any disposals, such as the Horlicks brand. Of course the wider answer is that this lucrative division will pay for itself and makes a material difference to earnings in the current year. I hope that they complete the transaction as soon as possible. | romeike
27/3/2018 12:11 | Juju/17111 'Gap up - gaps get closed' Depends what kind of gap it is. If it were an exhaustion gap you might (later) be correct. But it looks to me like a breakaway gap, the start of a new trend, that typically happens when a shares situation materially changes - which is what has just happened. cf. | jrphoenixw2
27/3/2018 10:50 | A right royal daylight robbery for many yesterday in the 1280p’s, classic bear trap before an rns | ny boy
27/3/2018 10:44 | To me this looks like it could break back up over 1500 fairly soon. | rcturner2
27/3/2018 10:43 | India seems to be a particular problem for British companies - not just Glaxo, but Vodafone struggling (they JV'd their India operation last year I hazily recall) Having Novartis exercise their put was always the better option. Nice reaction in share price. $13bn odd price. How is that being financed out of interest? | fangorn2
27/3/2018 10:42 | Breakout on heavy volume, would be nice to see a close over 1350p +, over 1370p, would be bullish | ny boy
27/3/2018 10:34 | Sold a few - made a tidy move already. | nigelpm
27/3/2018 10:31 | Just hope it holds onto the gains today. | romeike
27/3/2018 10:28 | Good deal :-) 27th march Morgan Stanley 'equal weight' tp 1400p reiterates | philanderer
27/3/2018 10:11 | Automatic technical analysis. Medium term, Mar 23, 2018 GLAXOSMITHKLINE has broken through the ceiling of a falling trend channel. This indicates a slower falling rate initially, or the start of a more horizontal development. The stock has support at pence 1270 and resistance at pence 1370. Clear 1370p, opens up a move to test 1540p resistance. | ny boy
27/3/2018 10:05 | Needs to clear 1360s | supermarky
27/3/2018 09:27 | Maybe this time we can finally start the journey..we have been back to the petrol station quite a few times, no more fuel can be added Good job there is a 6% pa Divi paid quarterly better than parking cash down at el banco de ripoffo | ny boy
27/3/2018 09:03 | Well done Emma | scottishfield
27/3/2018 09:02 | Looks like they are buying the mark up,nice to see. | tim 3
27/3/2018 08:58 | Very welcome news. | essentialinvestor
27/3/2018 08:51 | Looks positive to me. Always simpler to buy out a company that you already know. As to paying for it, a movement of the fixed asset furniture looks to be on the cards although I've no idea how much Horlick is worth and what other assets may be up for grabs. | ygor705
27/3/2018 08:23 | Gap up - gaps get closed | juju44 |
