06/2/2018 18:19 | Hello hosede, Yes of course you are right. My cynicism relates to the plethora of pundits who seem to think that they know and can predict market direction.Whether broking houses or bulletin board experts. It is worth looking back at their predictions to see what a pointless exercise it has been. Fwiw the only ones with a modicum of success are those that look at the current trend and extrapolate on that.... works well in the very short term of course!GSK will go down before it retraces I think? | bili1946
06/2/2018 17:23 | Usually a dip pre-release on GSK results day. And they've been later in the day with the release than usual the last two times if I recall correctly. A buying opportunity perhaps so long as Emma doesn't start talking about acquisitions and dividends again in the afternoon investor call. Not we can take another beating like that at this stage. | romeike

06/2/2018 14:17 | Pfizer comment this week suggests they are preparing the ground for no sale. The sooner GSK no deal is announced the better for all concerned. GSK results risk being overshadowed by global events as it is. | romeike
06/2/2018 13:03 | I think the sale will not bear fruit for either buyer so it's a NO,NO ! | abdullla
06/2/2018 12:45 | So GSK buys Pfizer's CP division. Pays over the odds Cuts div Share price plummets Vulture fund buys the whole shebang and then splits it into two separate companies and sells the pharma to Pfizer and the Consumer products to RB I think I should sell my smallholding! | toffeeman
06/2/2018 12:45 | GSK is an approx. £100bn company currently valued at £60bn by its share price On what planet do you value it at just £5bn? - come on get real. | romeike
06/2/2018 12:28 | Hopefully this hit to the market will focus minds at GSK re: price of any bid. Anything that isn't a bargain bid will be unacceptable when the focus is supposed to be on pharma. Confident that the current share price would itself be a bargain either way anyway - offers a crazy yield and good growth potential on a company with one of the best dividend histories on the London market. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Dow back to Trump election night levels, it's been a long time coming. The president might want to think twice before blowing huge stock market bubbles. No doubt this drop is all the democrats' fault, or possibly the FBI's fault or those horrible liberals who want distasteful things like basic equality. | romeike
06/2/2018 12:20 | Dow to retreat to its status quo position,TRUMP to join the jumpers ! | abdullla
06/2/2018 11:58 | Dow is on its way to under 20k in the coming days/weeks and gsk to 1k imo. | sr2day

06/2/2018 10:23 | Don't offer CASH ? pay in paper! | abdullla
06/2/2018 09:56 | If it spends anywhere near $15 Bln in the present competitive and consumer climate on Pfizer's consumer division the share price will hit £8. imo | cumnor
06/2/2018 09:52 | The CFO of Reckitt is ex GSK fwiw. | alphorn
06/2/2018 09:42 | GlaxoSmithKline and Reckitt Benckiser Group are the only two companies to have submitted non-binding bids for US drugmaker Pfizer Inc's consumer business after other candidates walked away, citing people familiar with the matter, reported that French drugmaker Sanofi, Switzerland's Nestle SA and US consumer goods company Johnson & Johnson were among companies considering to bid for the unit, however, the firms decided against making an offer for the business. Pfizer plans to open a data room for Glaxo and Reckitt to start due diligence on the assets before submitting final offers in the next few weeks, according to the news agency. | ttg100
06/2/2018 08:28 | TM - one major difference with the FTSE of the past is that today around 70% of FTSE earnings are non GBP. That could indicate that it has become some form of inverted forex index or that in fact it should track the US more closely. Take your pick. | alphorn
06/2/2018 08:20 | I think DOW has further to fall whereas Ftse will recover and stabilise GSK has already recovered half of this morning's loses! | abdullla |
