Short term with no news - we might drift down further. If they sell so many assets they should be able to hold the divi

Silly valuations here, give it a few months and we will be back up above 1600p again.

Read a interesting article on Astra by Robert Greffen, he said Astra will it be the next Tesco and cut the dividend in half, that was before these figures today.
GSK better than Astra.

GSK earnings call transcript available on Seeking Alpha,
if anyone is particularly keen ).

There is usually a webcast replay option on the investors site,
however can't see it this time.

Astra board should be ashamed not accepting that bid.

As long as the GSK/AZN merger rumours do not start up again.
May well happen eventually, another 3/4 years would think.

Way I see it the 2 day rule applies, never buy anything on the first day of bad news. Astra will get slaughtered in the press tomorrow, GSK may come down with it on sentiment. Thats from a traders point of view.

Much of the AZN valuation was predicated on the success of that drug.
It was supposedly the jewel in the crown of it's pipeline.

So Tim's view AZN may be lower still in a month looks reasonable.

May be bid speculation again will bubble up, however where is the great
potentail now, more difficult to see on the update.

Trader

The three red lines are not extrapolations or trend lines they are a Pitchfork. If you are not familiar with PF analysis please google it.

PF analysis shows that there is an 80% probability that the share price will reach the ML.

A drop and close below the middle of the brown dashed lines adds weight to a continuing fall to the ML and probably a test of the lower dashed line.

At some point I will be drawing an upward sloping ML but not yet.

bracke - your chart extrapolations do not make sense to me. I could re-construct your orange lines to show an upward trend as well! In fact, the line connecting the lows over the last 2 years shows that the current price is just about 25p below it.

Spot on would love to see the stats on this but I would hazard a guess that as much as 80% of shares like azn are cheaper in a month or so after a news related move down like this.

The divi is safe, so a decent 5% 'er at the low end of the chart, me likes, thin summer vols playing games.

At these levels expect an overseas predator to come knocking!

The one Goldman comment I saw yesterday did not look particularly encouraging.
Although wouldn't worry what analysts say, how many had Buy recs on AZN as an example. Often uber bullish near the top and very bearish
near the low.
