vn - I suspect Travis Perkins have their eyes on something very slightly bigger just at the moment! Have to say I'm in for the growth prospects of GDYO being predator rather than prey. Just like their recent acquisition which increased the number of their outlets by 12.5%! Nice and easy with little to go wrong.

Recent rise accounted for by the BSS results? they seem to think that the RMI market, which presumably accounts for a lot of Gibbs' business will hold up well in the short to medium term at least. Also BSS results were above market expectation and Gibbs has excellent cash generative properties as well as being very cheaply rated and illiquid.

Well nice rise and the scenario gets even stranger after all those supposed? sells? makes you wonder `how bent is this!!!`

still think this is well undervalued!!

might add to my holding which is already too large!!

Well I`m totally puzzled by todays activity - surely some marked as sells must be buys??????

Perhaps its todo with the new director joining and her share allocation??

I am at a loss to understand the market sentiment in respect of the GDYO share. Looks a very sound company with a bright future. Sit tight and wait for lift-off.

Well still nothing but noise!

HDYS has just shot up and I see no reason these results are not going to be good!!

Thanks for that vn.

I am trying to convince myself about the long term, have done some more work and will probably stick around for at least one more reporting period.

22% growth H1 year on year is excellent. The only worry about it is that H1 last year was down on the previous 6 months (H2 year before). I also note that in the last two years H2 EPS has bettered H1 by 18% and 15% respectively therefore historically the main growth has been in H2. So do we believe that the forecasts are low? If they get 12% better H2 this year we should see eps 19.5 = 33.7 for the year, which gives a PER of 10.5.

However if we take out the cost of share structure we get 36.9 and per of 9.6, with ongoing 12% growth the forward PER drops to 8.5, which is historically low. The average GDYO PER has been over 14 for the previous 5 years. Do your own sums!

However the historical per was been based on growth if it goes flat then a PER of 9 or 10 is all that can be expected.

There is a chance that this is an opportunity partially created by the clouding of issues by the share restructure. Could also be a new House B being conservative.

I reckon I am in until we see the H2 numbers.

Good Luck

Green .. nearly good morning!

My mind probably sees things too simply but here are my main thoughts

sales up 4% - agreed not much but the company as always are seeking aquisitions which are needed to drive higher growth than this

Am not worried that profits were down on exceptional and unrepeatable costs due to restructuring atall!!

margin improvement was impressive at 8.9%

so this gave earnings per share up from 14.2p to 17.4p - an impressive 22% -this time, and with the same improvement in the second half will see a further 22%growth in earnings per share!!

div cover is good at 2.53 times so further rises payable
without any growth

they are also a good takeover target

I like these as they will grow but by how much?
and they are steady!

Morning vn, I have been in for a while, but I am a little concerned.

The revision of the share structure is a definitely positive move along with the resolution to authorise the Company to make market purchases of up to 1,507,850 Ordinary Shares. The company has a history of returning cash to the shareholders.

I have been looking at the history, which is clouded by the change in share structure. The House B has 32.1 – 2004 and 35.5 – 2005

To hit the 32.1 will require 17.9 in the second period, which looks good but is basically flat as the 14.2 declared in H1 includes the cost of the share restructure take that out and H1 is 17.4.

It also means that they are forecasting another flat performance next year? This is not the impression I get from company statements or from competition reports. I think I am in for the next report but I expected stronger growth, there is the chance that the share buybacks will start but I am not in for that I saw this a good model with strong growth possibilities both organically and by acquisition both of which appear to have dried up?

Will keep a close watch, I am starting to think that there are better opportunities elsewhere, I would appreciate your comments.

Good luck

In terms of long term potential I think this is as near to you get as a racing certainty - bought at 300p and am looking to add if the price falls some more - has an excellent record and with new share structure is in play!!

major investors should be holding on for a sale of company or holding on for a revaluation on contiuing rising profits or just holding this good value share which is a hedge against a fall in the stockmarket

Theres no saying they will but I expect the share to form new higher level and plateau.

A good hold!!

Its always good news - the big fall was a readjustment with the change in the share structure and special div payment

Record of growing profits and now a bid target!

Survey published this weekend suggests that spending on DIY is on the increase ,especially popular amongst 25 - 34 year olds!!

Could this be the catalyst for the upward movement?
