Whoops can't add up properly this morning... hopefully if they can get back to the same or reduced costs as they had a couple of years ago they'll get back to say 1mln profit on say 8mln revenue. They mention Sierra Leone again I wonder what sort of potential that has for picking up clients

Yump,

It's actually £3.2m in last 5 months of 2017 so a continuation of the £7.7m yearly run rate seen to the end of July 17.

'full and diverse' pipeline of opportunities for 2018 does though sound upbeat.

Agree, inventory is not as such a P/L issue, more an exceptional that has been carried for a while, the cash is the important bit, £2.4mln after M/A payments, interest payments, not a lot tos any on outlook except groundwork laid for 2018, main thing cash flow still fine, something that should be recognised and appreciated more these days, too many company’s burn through cash and it is becoming a rare commodity!

If they carry on at the same revenue rate as the last five months of 2017 it looks like they will be pretty close to 10mln revenue.

Which is quite good considering there's no mention of any significant pickup in exploration work yet:

year to July 2016: 7.0mln
year to July 2017: 7.7mln
17 months to Dec 2107: 10.9mln

So that's about 4mln in the last 5 months of 2017...

They're writing off 0.5mln of inventory in these accounts, M&A costs were in there as well and it looks like redundancy costs may have concluded, along with restructuring costs.

So it looks possible that 2018 could be a 'clean' year in terms of exceptionals etc. If so and they do £10mln ish, there should be a jump to a meaningful profit.

Illiquidity a problem higher up in terms of value, but this is at a rock bottom valuation, and however that may be interpreted this is fundamentally a good business even if the outlook is somewhat clouded. Important thing is the balance sheet is in reasonable shape with a useful product, it would not take more than an order or two of decent magnitude to move the needle up on this!

That makes no sense. If you like the business and think its got a good future, illiquidity doesn't matter if you're long term.

Unless you've got a huge wad and worry about being able to get out in 3 years time.

Short term obviously illiquidity is a problem.

2K sold at 24 - Knocks price This share far to illiquid to consider even for a long term investment as low yield so no compensation fro illiquidity -

Well I can see it and its a good one. Perhaps ADVFN is doing weird stuff with the RNS's.

Oh, on second look its not an RNS, just confirmation of the Sierra Leone 4th round licensing.

Does look like it is likely to open a few doors for GTC, as the applications, whether successful or not, will all be using the data.

What are you on about JayKayTee, we know the results for 17 months to the end 2017 will be announced in March, unless they have contract news I am intrigued by your source, but then you could be talking porkies like most on these boards! Fake, Fake, and more Fake News!!!

Don't write off the oil side, it will be their largest sector by far and very successful again before too long.

What we do know is that this company generates a good deal of cash after investment in the mapping data through sales to a number of organisations, it has good relationships with its end-users in terms of longevity. One has to bear in mind that the days of mega-projects with long lead times are most likely over, but there are plenty of opportunities for less financially onerous projects, and extending the life of existing projects within the oil and gas sector, but I do believe the real future of this company is in other areas with the acquisitions they made, and diversification to new sectors!

Yes, if they'd started off as a recent float banging on about geo-spatial and big data I wonder where the share price would be...

I think that this company has a bright future beyond oil and gas, off course this is the heart of the business as regards the data it produces, but they are winning more work to do with infrastructure, and associated industries. It’s important to recognise the potential outside of the energy industry for its geo-spatial data.

Playful,

Do you have a man on the ground in Sierra Leone?

I've been holding for a few years also. Managed to average down a little, but need this to go over and stay above 50p to make some reasonable profits.

Price of oil has slowly risen to $60 per barrel, and this will be leading to the big oilies starting up their exploration and development again.
So hopefully we can see more work coming GTC's way!

Hopefully this time the results and outlook will prompt it to stay up as I bought a load at 25p when it was there in 2016 and then didn't sell at 40p ! Trouble is with these smaller companies you never know where the share price is going to settle - it only takes a few persistent or heavy buyers or sellers to change the support and resistance levels, when you least expect it.

Good man, was going to buy more myself, pared my holding as a security, but it is a good little company!
