Merry Christmas ADIpaul

Thinking of topping up.

Shrewd investors
1) are bargain hunters
2) look for undervalued companies undergoing significant turnaround
3) invest in small cap companies (because fleas jump much higher than elephants)

Mr Hemming knows what he is doing. Thats why he is so rich.

GHG is currently valued at £5.8m
Its turnover this year should be in the regions of £70m
Because of discontinued operations and debt it will however report a loss this year
If it goes back into profits the following year it should be valued back at previous market cap of £30m
This puts its shareprice at 150p and above
Still risky but upside is massive

Does anyone know if Gearhouse Australia was involved in the Olympics?

I ask this because the they made a loss in 1999, but interims later stated that measures had been taken which had made a big improvement, possibly into profit. If they were involved, it could make a big difference to their profit.
Gearhouse South Africa was also making profit and G/house America too.
The Opti-Screen is going great guns and, by all accounts, the order books are full. There is also the alliances with Madge.web and De-Vere hotels to look forward to.

moneyloser (hope not)... it doesn't need many shares traded with the small amount in circulation to move this up or down. It could well be a comparatively large order waiting to be filled that has pushed it up, or it may even be your first 10k that did it.

swisher99 (is that a posh ice cream?) The results are expected to be good turnover but with a debt inherited from the previous management. The new bunch have been working on this for the last six months or so, and I think the situation has been stabilised. However, I am hoping for details of some sort of strategy which will enable the elimination of most, if not all, of the debt and/or a quick recovery to profitability.
How you play it is up to you, but I am holding and, if I had more funds, would accumulate more. A lot of investors seem to be looking towards recovery plays at the moment, so the results could make a lot of difference. Most stocks suffer a dip after results from short term investors who bought on the run up selling. If the results please, then they might not.

All just my opinion, no advice intended and your own research should guide you.

Regards,
Paul.

ADIPaul Do you expect the results to have a positive or negative effect on the price initially? I fancy buying some more but am undecided whetehr to do pre or post results. Your view would be appreciated
TIA

What are these MMs up to??

I put in a 10000 buy and they mark up the price before I could get another in. Cannot for the life of me think how a £3000 trade can mark up the price. Hopefully a big buy will show up later in the day.

Looking forward to 90p soon.

rhodesc, he sounded quite friendly and relaxed but they cannot give any price sensitive information at any time to individuals. It has to go through the usual public announcement.

I've just spoken to John Wall and asked him when the results will be out. He replied "This month". I asked if he could tell me which day and he said that they were working on it and all he could say was by the end of the month.

The rules were that a company had a deadline of six months from financial year end to report results. 31st. Dec. is the deadline for GHG. The rule has been changed to four months. GHG fell under the old rules this time.

Of course there are only four trading days left this month, so it's not long to go.

Paul.

Robowen, I do not have any contacts or inside track to the company. I just phone the contact number given with announcements or listed in fundemental data. I've never been vetted by any company I've called. If they did, they would probably invite me on the board! ;-)

I hold a few more but let me assure you I am in a similar situation.

Lots of losses this year and even when profit has presented itself I have greedily refused to accept it and hoped for more.

Heres hoping next year is better with some interest rate cuts etc. and the oversold markets finally rallying??

Let us know if you get that call from GHG

Chris

A miniscule amount by some standards, 21,000, but it's all of the "speculative" cash I have left after this years disastrous market. I am hoping this will start me off on a much better 2001. Learned a lot the hard way in 2000 and decided to hang on to the coat tails of the shrewder investors for a change. J. Hemming isn't selling, so neither am I. Everson-Crane sold and bought back in. There must be a damn good reason. The spread on this makes it difficult to jump in and out, and I've done a little too much of that this year so I'm gritting my teeth and staying in "Fearhouse". We've seen the way it drops, but remember the way it goes up! Of course, I'd like to make a quick killing, but if that happens, I shall still keep some in for the longer term.

Regards,
Paul.

adipaul, i'm holding this stock, and fairly new to share trading.
i'm interested in how you go about contacting the company for news - do you have contacts in the company and therefore have an inside track, or do you just make a cold call? and if so, how do they vet you as a bona fidi shareholder?
i'd appreciate your comments, and ofcourse any of the latest news you may have.

Sorry guys, I did not receive a call back. I will try again tomorrow and email also. It's possible I was online at the time, however any calls are diverted to my mobile in that case.

Paul.

Adipaul, The F.D. didn't phone you back again then? We could really use some encouragement on this one, couldn't we? I'm pretty sure it will all come right.
Fingers crossed

How many do you hold (if you dont mind me asking)?

rhodesc

I'm well into the red, but I've held all the way through as I am more confident about this coming good than any other stocks I am watching. It's just not a stock that stop-losses work on. Also, I am not here all day so I have to accept the fact that it is very volatile. If we are lucky, it could do very well short term, but medium term is a better way of looking at this, with a view to being a fantastic longer term share.

However, I aren't happy as profit from last week has drifted away - it was 44p last Wednesday

Feeling depressed today

I have just phoned to speak to the F.Dir., but he is in another board meeting with ALL the Directors. I have left my number and hope they will phone me back later today. When I find out the date of the results, I shall post a.s.a.p.

I see the mm's are dropping the price again at the slightest excuse, but very few are selling. I wonder how short of stock the mm's are.

Paul.
